Most anticipated projects in the history of Habitat for Humanity

This came to me a few day ago… got lost in the shuffle.

I hope more projects like these take off and bridges of understanding are created. Many people are polarized over situations oceans away while they live facing local issues, policies, and situations that affect us all. We need to start looking back to where we live and can make a difference and not sit back and talk about events thousands of miles away where we can’t be effective to any degree.

Those who live outside the U.S. will obviously retort against this info. which is fine since they will react according to their own circumstances.
My interest is in highlighting a positive step taken between communities, on a very minute level, that is actually a giant step for those involved.

Local Muslim and Jewish Communities Join Habitat for Humanity of Smith County To Build A Home in Tyler, TX

Habitat for Humanity of Smith County will break ground on one of the most anticipated projects in the history of Habitat for Humanity on Monday, September 27, 2004 at 11:00 AM at 2308 North Gaston Avenue. The Abraham House will be the first home entirely sponsored and constructed by the Muslim and Jewish Communities of East Texas.

Modern Muslim and Jewish relations have been split apart due to politics, religious fanaticism, lack of dialogue, and today, we have real fear and animosity between the two communities.

All media are invited to attend. Please contact Heather Hughey at (903) 595-6630 ext. 16 or (903) 780-7923 for directions.
