Peterborough mayor?s church offers space to arson-stricken mosque | Toronto Star

Police and firefighters arrived at the mosque on Saturday at around 11 p.m. after receiving a call of smoke coming out of the building. Peterborough police have confirmed that the fire was deliberately set. “Offences such as this, committed in relation to a place of Worship are taken very seriously and the Police Service will make every attempt to determine who is responsible,” Peterborough police said in a prepared statement. No one was injured, but the interior of the building was heavily damaged. The Kawartha Muslim Religious Association praised the community for its support in the wake of the attack.

You have an obligation to your community in Britain (or whichever country you reside in) to not abandon them in times such as these.
Not everyone can simply go back... And those who can go back, instead of standing up for their community, making their voices heard, are leaving the rest to fend for themselves.

And what kind of signal does that send to those who harass you? All those times you people were screaming "WE are British," would mean nothing if you you passively move back to Pakistan. And it would only encourage the bigots more, if they see that they are successful in scaring you off.

I hate to be qurbani ka bakra but you're right. I live in mostly white area and my neighbour was a racist but over time she has changed into a less racist and more accepting, alhamdulilah. But after these attacks, I feel we are back to square one.

Thats how it goes in life... You build bridges, those bridges get burned down, then you make new bridges. If you werent prepared for the such an eventuality, then why did you try to begin with ?

Seneca the Roman philosopher, had the idea that such feelings are due to unrealistic expectations of life. Meaning, you should expect such things to happen. Frustration and anger arise because you thought they wouldn't.
