Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

Two things I need for home. I used to have a metal mortar and pestle which I use for coarsely smashing spices and herbs but it was of bad quality so I threw it away. Kids love fried chicken, french fries etc… so I need a deep fryer because I am fed up of frying in a karahi…

So please recommend some good brands for both…but nothing too fancy or expensive. I saw this nice mortar/pestle in IKEA for a reasonable price…made or marble type material…that might work.

Re: Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

Tefal is a very good brand in England offering quality cookware. They should have branches in USA also.

Re: Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

I got me a coffee grinder instead of a mortar and pestle....it works fine for me...maybe you would want to try that....
I saw a Cuisinart Deep fryer for $50...it was a small size...looked very reasonable,to cook small batches of whatever food u like, consuming lesser oil as compared to bigger ones and not taking too much of storage/counter space...
but when I checked online reviews ,it was said to be bad....:(

P.S...I still have to get u that wings' recipe....I'll IA soon...:)

Re: Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

presto deep fryer, from walmart....reasoanble price.

Re: Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

^agree! walmart is fun.

Re: Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

chips, the coffee grinder is great for dry stuff, but when you want to smash garlic then I think the manual method works better.

Thanks guys, I'll check the presto.

Re: Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

My mother bought a marble one from Sawat (Pak) about 14 years ago and she still uses it.. it’s awesome! I think it’s her most favorite kitchen item :hehe:

Re: Mortar & pestle and a deep fryer

At home we have an IKEA mortar+pestle. It's really worth it so do get if you can. My mum also has one which you cannot move from the worktop, so the IKEA one works well.

Philips have a great range of deep fryers. Look online for a deep fryer you like and do a price comparison. Oh and also look out for online vouchers you can use to redeem against online purchases. You would be surprised at how many online vouchers thingies you can use.

Good luck:)
