Poor Sami bowled so well but was very unlucky.
Might have this performance would have been in Sharjah or Australia Pakistan would have destroyed the Srilankan batting.
Pakistan really lost the match when SL batted first.
That is thr theory, you bat first and you are guarenteed the win.
even if Bangladesh batted first against Australia they would have won it.
I think it was a good performance by our batsman with the exception of openers who got out playing two horrible shots.
I felt very sorry for poor Afridi.
I mean what in the world was he suppose to do at no 9.

I really like Waqar as a captain but that was a very dumb mistake.
He should have been sent atleast before Latif so him and Wasim could have had a decent partnership.
Youhana played brilliantly and almost a match winning performance.
First 3 batsman got out playing very bad shots.
Chances of Pakistan reaching the finals are very slim even if Pakistan wins tommorrow against SA
Unless we get that bonus point which is almost impossible against SA.
As south Africa would beat SL and reach the finals ahead of Pak due to higher net run rate.

Yes, we can have either Afridi or Imran Nazir. Imran Nazir is not a stable batsman at all. If we have to have fireworks, Afridi should get preferance because of his experience and bowling. So let's use Afridi while he's in touch. Let Imran sit out and play some domestic cricket until he developes some temperament. I will maintain this stand even if he gives match winning performance tomorrow.
Also, I agree that Afridi should come as an opener when we are batting first on surfaces that are good for batting, and also when we are chasing huge targets. In all other conditions, he should be down in the order, but ahead of Wasim and Latif.

Definitely! Not only is he a better and much more stable batsman, he also brings some enthusiesum in the team. We have rewarded Latif enough for his loyalty to Pakistan in uncovering the match-fixing practices of Pakistani players. It is true that he suffered, but in the recent matches (includign the ones in Australia) his batting has been consistently poor, and Moin, though an inferior keeper, is a much more dependable batsman. Rashid out, Moin in.
well i think that overall this tournament is a flop. i mean u have 4 matches in which the team batting first has won. does that tell you something about the stupid nature of the pitch. that it plays good in the first innings but deteriates in the second. the delivery imran nazir got out on today i flet kept low. and the saeed anwar one didn’t come on the the bat as nicely as it would’ve in the first innings. basically if u win the toss and bat first u win. that doesn’t provide any good entartainment or cricket. i mean all u have to do is bat first and u have a trend of winning. that’s not competetion at all.

anywayz. well i kinda want to defend waqar’s decision of holding back afridi. he thought that if we need around like 20 runs in 12 balls towards the end afridi would provide the fireworks to achieve that. but it didn’t work out that way.
i’d say that the bowling decision is very complicated. to play saqi or not?? to go in with 5 bowlers or six bowlers?? i’d say go in with six bowlers and let me suggest this team:

on a whole i’d say stick with the present team. it’s playing good, but it has been unlucky.

I would switch Saqlain with Sami, thats the only change I would like to have and thats what I was hoping that Waqar would pick Saqlain against SL instead of Sami....I wish he had done that. Oh well I still have faith in PAK team and I am sure they will win atleast tomorrow's game :)

Saqlain is a definite for the final one day against South Africa as the South African batsman struggled against Murali and Chandana.
I was quite surprised he wasn't picked for today's game.
As Srilankan spinners showed that there is alot of spin in the pitch.
Now going to wicket keeper issue.
I'm not just talking about this tournament but overall in one dayers Moin maybe a lot better batsman than Latif but the runs he usually scores are usually evens up by the runs he gives behind the stump.
Someone gave the example of Rahul Dravid as the keeper.
Well all I have say is that he is no keeping when he has a world class spinner like Saqi or a fast bowlers like Waqar, Wasim, or Shoaib.
Truse me it is not easy keeping to Wasim.
He takes the ball away from the batsman and into the batsman and that itself is a tough job that Moin had a hard time with and Rashid is just brilliant.
Afridi is one more bowler Moin couldn't handle.
What would you rather have.
Moin dropping catches, conceiding 10-20 runs behind the stumps and score 20 or 30 quick runs or Latif who is almost perfect behind the stumps who may not hit sixes or fours and may not be a good batsman.
I would pick Latif over Moin specially in one dayers anyday.
If Pakistan wins the toss they will definateley win as samething with SA.
thats all the players i wud expect to play today but i think mudassar nazar has mentioned that afridi needs to be sent in at the top…
so i think malik has to play a bit lower, maybe 2 down or something…
Well its no use sending shaoib malik down the order..one down the max!He is a stable defensive batsman not known for big hits and it was greatly noticed in the game when he scored a century and wasnt able to give any fireworks in the last overs and in consequence the run rate wsant high as one would expect Pakistan in the last ten overs..
