Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

Hi Ladies!
Who has used Moroccan oil for their hair? I wanted to get your feedback and experiences and also which brands you use?
Does it work?
Wheres the best/cheapest place to purchase?
What did it do for your hair?
Do you use it for anything else?
Will it help my hair grow faster? Chopped my hair off last year and now I am looking to grow my it out again and its not growing! :frowning:
Any other tidbits of advice? Want to make my hair healthier even though I do nothing except blow dry it. I rarely use products in my hair and even that just leave in conditioners once or twice a week.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

Oops sorry for the typo in the title lol.

Do you mean argan oil? Or moroccan oil brand hair treatment that contains argan oil as one of the ingredients?
If you meant argan oil, then I would suggest getting it online or your local health food store rather than going for the Josie Maran brand as the former would be much cheaper.
As for it being helpful in making your hair faster, I am not sure if this is super beneficial in that regard. I would say, taking biotin supplement and doing an oil massage at least once a week can help you achieve those results. I use organic virgin cold-pressed coconut oil mixed with few drops of rosemary, tea tree, and peppermint/lavender essential oils.

Oh, by the way, I take a few dropa of argan oil, rub it between my palms and smooth it over my hair concentrating in the bottom part. It takes care of fly-aways, smooths the texture, and make it look glossier.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

This Wish! This is the one I have heard a lot about.
MOROCCANOIL® Treatment | Nordstrom

Hello!!
I have used a sample size of this product and found that it weighed my fine hair down and made it look very limp and lifeless. Not the look I would like to go for. It's also silicone(dimethicone)-heavy and, therefore, will cause a build-up after a few uses. I highly prefer pure cold-pressed argan oil because it's cheap and not mixed with unnecessary additives and preservatives.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

^And that is why I never bothered purchasing Argan oil cuz I had a feeling that it would weigh down my already fine hair. My hair does better when oil is applied as a treatment prior to shampooing as opposed to using it post shampoo.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

Oil at multi year low.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

Ohhhhh I just received morrocan argan oil from by zakia its 100% organic. someone recommended me for hair falls etc. i have tried only once last night, so lets see if it really works. oh its also good for skin so will try on my neck to see fine line disappear.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

4 years ago, I have only used the brand moroccan oil and It made my ends really dry, Same thing with their smoothing shampoo but their conditioner is amazing and thats all I use for my daughter's hair. I recently picked up their heat thermal spray and I love the volume it gives my hair but again the hair feels really dry/coarse afterwards. I am most definitely never buying their oil ever again.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

^ I bought this shampoo , but hair are dry afterwards

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

Just like any other product…what works wonders for one person doesn’t do crap for another. I have used this exact oil on my hair for a few years. I buy it on Amazon (the small jar is $10 there). I have fine/wavy hair and use SMALL amount all over hair. When I blow dry/straighten hair after using this, my hair feels/looks silkier and the frizziness is controlled very well.

The only reason I don’t use this oil all the time is b/c I color my hair and putting any oil on hair when its colored will strip the color. But if I didn’t color my hair, I’d use this all the time.

If you’re interested, I think you should get the small bottle from Nordstorm and try it for a day or two. I shop there often and I know they have a VERY generous return policy. So if you don’t like it after a few tries, return and get a full refund.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

I color my hair too but am on the lookout for a good shampoo that won't strip away any color. Off topic but what do you use so the color does not fade so quickly?

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

When I get full highlights done, I usually get red/burgundy/wine color with light brown thrown in. I’m very careful on hair care when I do this b/c (1) Its expensive lol; (2) Red is the most difficult color to maintain. However, doing the following helps the color looking fresh for 3-4 months easily for me. The only reason I get it re-done OR color my own hair at home is b/c of new growth (I have a lot of grey). I have wavy/fine hair.

  1. I shampoo 2x/week & use baby powder to control oiliness in between. If I MUST wash my hair b/c it got too sweaty at gym or caught in rain or whatever, I will usually just rinse with water and put a little conditioner. This is the shampoo I’ve been using for the past few years and I love it.

Amazon.com : L’oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Intense Repair Shampoo, 16.9 Ounce : Hair Shampoos : Beauty

  1. Conditioner: I use cheap drugstore conditioners normally (Suave, Tresseme, Vo8 etc.). When I get reddish highlights, I use Aveda Madder Root conditioner once a week b/c this works like a color deposit. They have other ones for blonde and brown color.

  2. Absolutely no use of oil at all. Any type of oil will strip color. The only thing I use is mousse and heat protectant.

  3. Also, I do not wash my hair at least 2 days BEFORE I color it. And once it’s colored, I don’t wash it/let it get wet at all for 3-4 days. Both of these steps were given to me by my colorist.

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

^ Yup the last 2 tips are spot on :k:

Paheli00 is right, It might work you never know; And also If I remember correctly moroccan oil has a very tiny travel sized bottle as well or they did back then, I remember having that as well when I had bought the shampoo/conditioner pkg (It came complimentary).

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

Any references to cheaper argan oil in the market? 100% argan oil?

I am using it and I really like it.

This is where I buy my oils from: http://www.gardenofwisdom.com/oils.html

Re: Moroccan Oil and and the FAQS

I really like the original but don't use it regularly.. It works brilliantly at keeping extensions glossy and really cuts down on drying time..

I've tried alternatives but not found anything as good..
