Do you guys think that the morning after pill or the “Plan B pill” is like an abortion in your mind. I have read that even in Islam it is allowed. There is a lot of negativism from Pro Life activist about it…and I am not talking about abortion since that still is murder in my eyes.
Re: --Morning after Pill, What are your Views?
i had the same q a few months ago lekin i know now tht morning after pill should only be taken in emergency’s not to often…and i don’t think tht it’s a abotion cauz it’s taken within 4/48 hrs… so it can’t be a abotion…
tht’s wht i think ![]()
Re: --Morning after Pill, What are your Views?
Yes you are right it is recommended for emergency use. It is however to be taken within 72 hours. Its just that I have read that so many of the pro life conservatives think otherwise..meaning they still call it abortion. I do think that if Islam has allowed it , so it makes sense that it is not abortion. I do understand that this could be a life saver for victimes of rape…as this eliminates a lot of stress and further heartache of having to choose between abortion if they may have become pregnant.

I agree with u
lekin wht i think is ke agar aap pregnant ho and mostly u know tht when u don't have ur period or something hena? Then there is a life growin in u...and when u take the "MAP" aap is pregnancy ko shooroo hone se pehle khatam kar rahe heyn.... personllay i woould never use it.... sirf agar emergency bohat barry he...lekin i think it's okay to use it and NOOO it's not killin or makin end to a life cauze the pregnancy beginsafter the 72 hrs ( i think )
Re: --Morning after Pill, What are your Views?
Morning after pill doesn't work if you are already pregnant so it's definitely not an abortion pill. It's just an emergency backup for someone who doesn't want to be pregnant for whatever reasons and should never be used as a regular birth control method since the side effects are adverse.
Re: --Morning after Pill, What are your Views?
technically, the reason why pro life activists are against the idea after teh morning after pill is because it still unclear to the manufacturers of PLan B what the mechanism of action is....
there not sure whether it prevents the egg from being fertilized, or whether it prevents the feritlizied egg from sticking to teh uterus, OR whether it induces the fertilized egg which has implanted to the uterus to basically be released and "die" techincally...
soooooo .... pro life ppl believe IF so perhaps the 3rd mechanism is the way it really does work (Which they still dont know) then its an abortion... if it just prevents it from being fertilized to start with then its okayy..
personally... i think that its ok... Islamically speaking too... i don't think that early on its acutally considered a human... but Allahu Alam...
Re: --Morning after Pill, What are your Views?
by the way.. sorry for all the grammar and spelling mistakes... sort of in a rush : )

PLan B can't affect the already fertilized egg hence it doesn't kill anything!!
It works in three ways either by stopping the release of the egg, by preventing the fertilization of the egg, and/or by preventing it from attaching to the uterus..Basically it contains the same hormones as any other birth control pill but just in the higher amount as compared to the normally used bcp's.
ps: I worked in my university's health services and we had to attend the lectures when PLAN B was approved to be given as an OTC medicine and all these issues were made clear by the health professionals. :-)
Re: --Morning after Pill, What are your Views?
I dont think you get the correct concept behind the Morning after Pill.
Its not aborting anything like GtG said.
However speaking from what it does to your body after taking is something everybody should be more educated bout.
The terrible mood swings your body goes through is upto the point where you have no control over your emotions.
Making it an over the counter drug has its drawbacks.
Most teenagers have access to it without any prescription and arent really clear on the side effects.
Re: --Morning after Pill, What are your Views?
Oh sorry, your right. That was my mistake with the 3 mechanisms.
