More Money = More Respect

Is this true in Pakistan the more you can display your wealth through cars, homes and clothing = people respecting your more even though they met you for the first time and your a guy that deals in drugs?

Re: More Money = More Respect

No.

Re: More Money = More Respect

It's like that everywhere. people respect you more when you got more money in US as well. I have seen that all time. i was from a middle class family before and now that I am married to a doctor, people treat me totally differently. even the SAME people at work who didnt even bother talking to me, as soon as they found out i m married to a doctor whos making alot of money, their attitude towards me compelety changed!! trust me, money makes a huge difference how people treat you. i have experienced that first hand

Re: More Money = More Respect

and to most people, it doesnt matter where the money is comign from. whether you are surgeon making alot or a drugdealer, the bottom line is you are rich, people will be nice to you

Re: More Money = More Respect

It depend in what neighbor you live in... Although there is always a forehand to rich lobby.

Re: More Money = More Respect

As that Puff Daddy song goes......"Mo' money, Mo' problems"

More seriously.........more $$$ = more respect = more people kissing up to you = more women throwing themselves at you = more getting laid = you being a lucky dawg!!!

Even more seriously, it depends upon the person. I've seen people not only lose respect.....but also get angry....and possibly even stop socializing with those that they feel earned money through unethical means. For such people, their moral values carry greater importance than wealth. And then there are others who don't have such scruples.....and to them the wealthy should be revered regardless of how they earned their lavish lifestyle.

Re: More Money = More Respect

This is true with desis in general, whether in Pakistan or the United States. A cheap jealous materialistic bunch. Pakistanis are famous for their cheapness in the U.S. even though they tend to have money.

Like if another Pakistani has something nice, be it a car, house, job, spouse, fiance etc.. etc.. they get super duper jealous, and start talking bs.

Re: More Money = More Respect

Short answer: Yes,
Long Answer: Money is the blood of the world. No matter where you go, More Money = More Power. But in the desi society, money has a much greater charm; there are a lot of people kissing up to you and you do get a lot of respect, regardless of where the money came from.

Re: More Money = More Respect

well i m not sure about respect but ull have lotsss of green enemies ..

Re: More Money = More Respect

:hinna:

Re: More Money = More Respect

^broccoli??????

Re: More Money = More Respect

yes if you share or give away your wealth. I have thousands in student debt...so I'll deff respect you more if you decide to share. :)

Re: More Money = More Respect

LMAO!

Re: More Money = More Respect

more money more respect, less sleep.

less money, comfortable sleep.

no money, no respect no sleep.

Re: More Money = More Respect

I find if you have a decent income not rich in the UK you don't get much jeouslosy from others they respect you for making your living and living moderately. I think in Pakistani if you are slightly above the norm like if you have a car in the pind its seen as excessive and rich as my cousin told me he gets threats from others about his car so he had to buy a shotgun to protect himself and his family.

Re: More Money = More Respect

dont know if having more money only translates into respect solely on its basis....

if you have lots of money by doing a legitimate job/business....have no flings... a good boy/girl.man/woman....then yes society respects you a hell lot..

but if money attained by dubious methods..have a lot of flings....are single beyond a certain age.... well they will def tolerate coz you got the cash but respect .... not necessarily

Re: More Money = More Respect

SO it seems you don't get much respect even when you show off your money.

Re: More Money = More Respect

Not only in Pakistan, but everywhere you will get more (fake) respect if you are rich

Re: More Money = More Respect

agree 100%. I've seen it happen at more than several occasions.

Re: More Money = More Respect

I totally disagree, just go through an experience on my wedding last month - there were some relatives who came from foreign countries, and their mood was a bit off, well felt by many people. After the wedding those relatives tell some family members that they didn't receive proper protocol.

Well what the heck, ... some one said (on their face) "if you people came from foreign lands and have more $$$ doesn't mean you are more special then other people who have less money - respect have to be earned, this is one thing which you can't bought".
