There is such a culture difference here anyone over 18 is supposed to have self-respect and not take money from others. My Gori assistant was surprised that I paid for my 18 yr olds ticket to fly home for Christmas. All the young western people I know worked and borrowed money for education. We teach kids to work for their money at a very young age and even Presidents kids and millionaires kids work minimum wage jobs to learn value of working for the money.
He is doing his brother a disservice by teaching him that he does not need to work for his money. My boy was a dishwasher at 16 and told me that he was dozens of dishes a minute.
You are not serious about 50K, is that in dollars? if it is then this is insane. My wife hides her money from me cant you find ways to hide your money or put in retirement account where it is deducted from your wages automatically or just hide it and tell your hubby that your family needed it.
In our culture, children (eldest sons, at least) are seen to be their parents retirement plan. Nothing wrong with that if there’s the means to do so and if everyone is fair and considerate but sadly that’s not the norm.
Most of the parents I know seem to want a death grip on their sons and make it impossible for them to experience a happy thriving family. If control and milking them is the goal then where is the unconditional love? Also my dear in that culture women didn’t make monies and since they are now financially independent those values don’t apply. As per Islam a husband cannot touch his wives earnings.
I was just joking with my comment, but your scenario above is something that happened with my own parents too. I don’t think it’s neccassily ‘hiding’ money but more having emergency savings that you don’t tell anyone about until needed.
Men by nature can be reckless with money and many times hiding is the best solution, in OPs case if she had hidden her money her husband wouldn’t have raided her life savings to give to his family to buy their approval and love. My son’s best friend at 18 bought a brand new 65k truck, girls don’t spend their monies like this.
