These are some of the pictures from our last visit to Bali in September 2005:
They got jumbled up. Anyways. Descriptions:
3rd: A rare moment of peace at Jakarta airport (06:00 am). Leaving for Bali.
1st: A Lion Air flight to Bali via Surabaya
2nd: On way from Airport to Hotel passing by famous Kuta Beach.
4th: Another street scene on the way to Hotel
1st: Shopping at Dusk. The busy shopping street where the unfortunate events took place a few months back.
2nd: Some sculptures on a crossing
3rd: Electronic city mall (point of contention...)
4th: Sorta world food street (SUSHI: I shouldn't have tried...)
5th: A colo*u*rful clothes street (bargaining friendly shopping!!)
Finally I have found some time to upload the rest.
Some flora and fauna:
1- I think it is a Hibiscus flower.
2- Some beautiful flowers on the sidewalk.
3- A bird on a Jack Fruit tree.
4- The dreaded Blue Jelly fish (This is not from Bali, but from our backyard)
5- An Oranguttan (In Bahasa Indonesia Orang=Man, Uttan=Old/Ancient)
6- A tiny Sand Crab inside a deserted shell. Look at its eyes.
Hinduism is the majority religion of the Bali Island. Hence, there is an abundance of Hindu Temple. Some of them are very old. A few shoots of them.
Below are some of the pictures of a traditional dance. It depicts the story of a fight between the Good and the Evil. The moral of the story was that as long as there is life, the Evil will coexist with the Good. Plenty of Japanese tourists there. Some very cute ones.
Plenty of big waves for the surfers. Beautiful beach. The photo with surfer looking at the waves is my personal favourite.
While we just stepped back from the beach, we heard the roar of choppers and we found out that some surfers have gotten stuck behind the Big Waves. Within seconds, the rescue choppers arrived at the scence and 4 surfers were rescued. The dusk was really beautiful. The beauty cannot be captured by me and my camera. But atleast a try.
Bali is not the only island in that place but is the most developed and crowded. The nearby island of Lombak is much more beautiful because most of it is still untouched. We do plan to go there on our next outing, but we have been warned that it might not be as safe as Bali. WTH. We will try anyways.
