adrasteia…when you wash towels, blankets etc you wash them in HOT water…the HOT water disinfects them…especially if you run bleach through it (if they are white towels). I dont know what kind of washing machine you use…but the one i use ends up looking sparkling clean once the clothes have gone through a complete wash cycle. Doesnt your washing machine drain the dirty water completely? :S
The average clothes touch must more dirtier stuff than just the grime on the floor. Its probably the smell of finyl that has you eeked.
i was thinking the same thing actually....at least my towels are touching MY floor (which is pretty clean i must say :D)....but our clothes touch far dirtier things......that to in public places.
Wow Mr Clean and a towel on the mop it will be! I really like the towel idea, thats why I had been using the swiffer. My boys alsways seem to get at the mops and vacuums - I dont mind so much since you throw the dirty swiffers in the gbg. And yes, when you use bleach in with the wash, it does disinfect. I wash my bathroom throw rugs this way.
Mr X, we have a floor washer machine, its a "flip it" or something like that - one side washes and the other vacuums. I only used it once though. It does a really nice job but its too much maintenance. You have to fill one compartment with the cleaning fluid and it goes into another compartment as you wash. when you're done, you have to take both compartments out and clean them and the bottom of the machine leaves a dirty puddle on the floor so you have to wash the bottom of it too. It seems to take much longer than just using a mop. My brother has one too and he loves it but then again, his son is in college so doesnt think its the coolest toy lol.
If you have a lot of floor to mop, the scooba does a fantastic job. We have tile in the foyer, breakfast area, and kitchen, and throughout the basement (our area is prone to flooding, so we wanted to be on the safe side) and I love it. It's not as hard to clean out as the Hoover floormate I had, and I love that I can just turn it on and leave. I use vinegar in it instead of the solution and the floors have a lovely shine.
Actually - have you tried mopping with vinegar yet? I use it instead of detergent every other time, and it leaves a nice shine. I also wash my glasses in dish soap with a little vinegar every once in awhile when they are looking dull. But if you want to save yourself a couple of hours of work every week, buy the scooba. :)
