The earliest authentic new moon sighting that we received was from Fullerton, CA, seen by four Muslims using optical aids. after sunset, the sunset in Fullerton today Tuesday May 15th was at 7:46 pm and the Moon set was at 8:12 pm
There is no moon "sighted" yesterday anywhere in the world. i.e. there is no human evidence of watching it. The website itself says that the moon appeared was so shortlived and thin that it wasnt even possible to be seen in anyway.
Thats why majority of muslims in NA didnt fast today and after a very long time, almost entire world will be starting their Ramadhan on Thursday.
Regardless, whoever started today following the calendar, Ramadhan mubarak. May your fast and all ibadah be accepted. Aameen.
**In reality, the charts "scientific calculations" are used by each and every Masjid All Over the World for all Prayer Times and mind you Sahri and Aftari Times during Ramadan Sharif are predetermined and all Muslims follow the so called scientific charts determinations therefore are important and used on a daily basis,
just imagine on a cloudy day if we had to wait for the Sun to rise or Set we would miss our Salat! right?
similarly Nations with Naval ships all over the World need the the Daily "Moon Rise" and "Moon Set" times to determine when the High Tides and Low Tide will occur to sail their ships safely without running aground on sand bars and coral reefs etc.
Yes I agree the extra effort one makes to establish the Sunnah of Rasul Allah PBUH to sight the New Moon has far more Ajar No doubt!** ** it is like we say in Punjabi .....sounay te sohaga!**
