This is exactly what they do in Pakistan every Eid.
Pakistan has become a laughing stock in the muslim world. I have to say that the Arabs and even countries like Malaysia and Indonesia generally get it right. Haj was yesterday (i.e. Friday 29 Dec.) so Eid should be today as it is in Britain and most of the muslim world. The Eid-ul-Fitr was two days too late in Pakistan and I am now hearing that Eid-ul-Azha is on Monday 1st Jan. 2007. This is just so ridiculous.
Why can’t they just follow the Saudis when our Ka’aba is there? Here in Britain, for instance most of the Imams follow the Saudis for sighting of the moon based on the international moon-sighting fiqa. I think the entire Muslim Umma should do the same not least to show solidarity with eachother.
Re: Moon sighting in Pakistan
Have you ever picked up history books in islam?
Sahabahs had eid on different days, even within same vicinity, they didn't follow saudi.
So please get your facts straight.
Re: Moon sighting in Pakistan
Yeah but surely there should be no confusion or doubt whatsoever about the timing of Eid-ul-Azha. It should be the day following the Haj......period.
And how does one explain two separate Eids within the same country. Ramadan started a day later in Birmingham compared to the rest of Britain this year and if I remember correctly Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on three separate days in Britain a few years ago. This surely cannot be right.
Re: Moon sighting in Pakistan
Not right, but acceptable. If Vancouver in Canada celebrates differently than Toronto, its acceptable.
look at the land size, same country..two eids possible, due to local sighting.
