Mood swings

A conversation that took place between my SO and his supervisor:

Supervisor: “… my wife is so very pregnant right now.”
SO: “Yeah? Congratulations!”
SO: “How has her pregnancy been like, mood swings and all?”
Supervisor: “O, no, I didn’t have to deal with mood swings. What I had to deal with was her hunger. She was CONSTANTLY hungry!”
SO: “chuckle. Ah, my girlfriend gets mood swings.” (No pregnancy here).
Supervisor: “Ah, I feel sorry for you, man”

Me: "Hahahahhahaha! I feel sorry for you too!

After hearing about this conversation, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for my SO. Bechara. Especially because right before he told me about it, I had just finished crying over not having seen the clothes my sister made for her wedding, because I wasn’t there for long enough. (PMS!)

Now, my mood swings are not bad. I used to be more unstable than I am now. But I never PMS-ed until a couple months ago, and now I can easily be a roller coaster, especially if I am stressed.

I haven’t noticed other women in my family getting mood swings, but I know my girlfriends do. So I am assuming, they sort of go away with time.

I was wondering if there is anything you ladies have tried or are aware of that puts you in a better mood around that time. I know working out is supposed to help. Any dietary changes that help you combat the hormones, make life easier for the male-folk?

Re: Mood swings

anyone?

Re: Mood swings

try to eat healthy before you get ur periods... I went from just craving foods to having violent irrational mood swings after marriage... don't know why but I did ...maybe a shift in hormones after marriage..... anyhow I noticed that if I ate fresh stuff, stayed away from white sugar, carbs and coke..... those weeks were better....maybe try that for a month or two... it is hard not fulfilling your cravings but the end result is a much smoother period so try it... good luck

Re: Mood swings

Eating healthy, drinking lots of water, exercising, basically taking care of your mind and body.

Do stuff that helps you calm down... like taking a bath, reading, getting your nails done (or doing them yourself).

When you feel good about yourself, you will be in a good mood.
