Mood swings affecting marriage

Sometimes (usually just before Aunt Flo comes avisiting), I get super upset about little things and take it out on my husband and/or parents.
I try not to be unreasonable but I just can’t help it! I’ve never felt like this before and it’s only in the past few months that I’ve been feeling this way. I start crying for no apparent reason (or over little tiny things that won’t faze any normal person) and since I hate having people see me cry, I end up locking myself up somewhere pretending to be busy with chores and such. The first time this happened, I actually got so alarmed that I went to see my doctor. He couldn’t find a thing wrong with me.
I feel like this is ruining all my relationships especially the one with my new husband. Has anyone else been through this? What the hell is wrong with me??

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

There are natural supplements like evening primrose oil that help with the mood swings. Check those out.

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

Yes...guilty *:)

But this isn't new for me...I get moody, emotional and cry over the most nonsensical things and its been that way for years. **

The thing is...its not everyone's responsibility to bear with you all the time. *

My tactic is to narrow down my dates, watch out for those signs and be very careful. *You have to be cautious so you're not snapping at people or confusing them. *

I still miss some situations though...like one night I cried because of NOTHING. *I couldn't even figure out why until hours later. *And it really was nothing, I just felt like bawling my eyes out and I did. *

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

If its so bad that's if disrupting your life,it' could be a worse form of PMS called PMDD. Eveni g primrose oil really helps in terms of mood swings as well.

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

Is that readily available in most pharmacies? Do you take it regularly or just when you need to?

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

Do you know how that gets diagnosed? I have a bit of the hypochondriac in me and reading about PMDD makes me think I must have it.

I know exactly what you're talking about! I actually did the uncontrollable crying thing last month. One minute I was folding laundry, the next I was full out bawling. Had to go hide in my bedroom which made my poor husband think I was angry with him. Ours is still a new marriage so I don't know how to explain this to him. He just wants to fix everything for me which is adorable, but this is something he can't do anything about so I feel like it creates distance between us.

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

Crying is fine, jesus christ.

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

Yes it's readily available. It's included in the pill I take once a day along with starflower oil.

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

don't worry, its natural. He should be understanding. If he doesn't his loss. He will never know how hard it is for us women to go through this every month.

WHY?!?! Hum GS-ers kya mar gaye?

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

Yes, evening primrose oil is readily available in Western countries. but most contain gelatin if you are concerned about that kind of thing. I order mine online in oil form and take half a teaspoon everyday and then try to increase it to an additional half teaspoon in the evenings a week or so before the period. Evening Primrose oil is also good for your skin and is heart healthy sap when taken with fish oil. It also helps with breast tenderness some women get before their period.

It reduced my symptoms by 80%.

A doctor can diagnose PMDD. But you can take the oil without being diagnosed and see if tha helps. I really haven't heard about any contraindications.

Re: Mood swings affecting marriage

I'd rather order it online since gelatin is something I'm concerned about. Is there a specific (i.e. legit) website you use to order it?
