Montreal International Jazz Festival

For those of you in the area, or travelling in the area around the time of June 26th to July 6th, don’t forget to check out the 24th Montreal International Jazz Festival. I have been to the festival many times, and it’s a blast! 4 blocks of downtown Montreal are completely closed off for the festivities, and many stages will be erected outdoors. 2000 musicians from the field of Jazz, blues, soul, and other forms of music will be participating including Ray Charles, Norah Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter Quartet, Ben Harper, The Dave Holland Big Band. If you get a chance, make sure to check this out.

Fretty, I might come down for this, I love Norah Jones. :)

most of the time, the really big name artists don't have free shows.. but still, its a good time out. last year, they had this paki group (can't remember their name) and they were playing some weird stuf, but it was nice. then me and my wife went to this indian show, which blew pretty bad, and we left after 20 minutes..

i couldn't find the free shows listing? is it online?

Yeah, it sure is a blast. The last time I went, which was in 1998 or 99, James Brown was headlining, and it was free and outdoors.

Pakistani band? Were they playing Jazz? I haven't checked the website in detail yet, so I don't know which shows are free, and which aren't.

:hehe: I was there for that show. The Godfather of soul looked like he was about to collapse.

I saw it as well

What a coincidence
