Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just purchase products that are to your liking rather than pay for a box of random stuff? Personally, i'm not really sold by it.
It's more about being able to try new things.

It's true. It's more about getting new samples to try. Sometimes people do get full sized products which they like which actually do make the box cost effective but this wasn't the case for me. Im waiting for augusts box and if that's any better than i may keep subscribing. If not i am definatily cancelling my subscription just because then it won't be cost effective!

so after reading this thread i ordered mine last month. The july one was alright, i got the philosphy face cleanser(which i already had in full size), soya nail polish, hair shine spray(I LOVED IT) and ahava lotion(LOVED IT ASWELL) and a funny tasting fruit bar. I actually liked it.
and I GOT MY AUGUST BOX YESTERDAY AND I LOVEDDDDDDDDDDD IT!
MINE WAS THE TOTAL OPPOSITE OF THE ABOVE POSTER EXCEPT THE HAIRTIE. i dont have the pic of it but il list what products i recieved.
1- Blinc Eyeliner. (i love the product but the brush is funny)
2- Carol's Daughter Monoi repairing hair mask ( going to try it today, its says it 96% less hair breakage after one use :o)
3-Pangae Organics Cleanser for combo to oily skin. ( I USED IT AND I AM SO STICKING TO IT, ITS AMAZING! MY SKIN FEELS LIKE HEAVEN AND ITS BEEN 5 HOURS SINCE I WASHED MY FACE)
4.Wei Tibetan Chrysanthemum Correcting 2 eye treatment pads.( havent used them yet but they have a cool feeling to it even through the wrap)
5- a wierd hair tie (i thought it was jus an extra ribbon from the packing LOL?)
I think I'm going to stick to my subscriptions. So far I am not disappointed, and its 10$ bucks so might as well. I end up wasting more on a single full sized product and most of the times end up hating it and never using it again. I'm actually waiting for a good makeup product now though. In my survey I actually said I would splurge on makeup products. hmmmm

I finally decided to order the box last month and I just got an email from Canada post saying the sender wrote the wrong address so it will either be delayed by 2 weeks or sent back to the company

well honestly i dunt know why people are complaining so much, the august box was amazing, i loved it lol! but yea I want some full-sized samples, or such makeup samples. Not just an eyeliner or nailpolish, but like blushes, eyeshadows or lipcolors. I'm more into experimenting that so yea its about time. But people complaining is a good thing cause that means we might get something big in the next one :D
And Saks I think you should call the customer service, theyre vey helpful, I was late in my august payment and they got me through the whole thing smoothly. I'm sure they'll get another one on its way for you.

Yup, they occasionally have full-sized stuff, one of my all-time favorites was the Laura Geller blush in Apricot Berry, it was full-sized and is worth $29 so that was awesome! Plus, I have found some new products that I bought full-size versions of from their store. The Purity cleanser, Khiel's Oil-free moisturizer, another Laura Geller blush (for my mom since she fell in love with the baked/marbleized look but wanted something more pinky and not coral/red the way Apricot Berry was) and the Oudad jel, which is the most amazing hair product I've ever tried. I have curly hair so I had been looking for a single product I could use for my curls to get them defined as opposed to a concoction of 3-4. I tried the gel on damp hair and OMG, wow. They were soft, NOT crunchy (the gel isn't sticky nor thick or goup-y, LOVE) and defined. I was so shocked that I ordered the full-size immediately.
That being said, it's stuff like that that makes me glad for being able to subscribe.

I got the august glossybox - i'm more satisfied that i was for last month's but im thinking i might just cancel my subscription and spend my tenner on beauty products that i ACTUALLY want to try..not beauty products that i've never heard off. In this months box - off the top of my head i got a mascara, nail wrap-like things, hair primer, blemish face wash and moisturising body lotion. Can't remember the names of them. It's a bit annoying when you've already got your favourity body/make up brand/type and you get stuff sent. I think this is the reason im gonna cancel. I don't really think it's worth it because I thought I would get more make-up samples but hmm no that's not the case! Anyone else got august glossybox?

And I finally bought some full-sized products after falling in love with them through my Birchbox and I managed to get them for free. I got a Laura Geller blush in Pink Grape fruit, A Philosophy Purity cleanser, Ouidad Gel (OMG THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER TRIED FOR CURLY HAIR! I always had to mix several products to de-frizz my curls and keep them shaped etc and this product did that in ONE step. I have found my hair routine for life. No joke) and I got a Khiel's Oil-free moisturizer. I had $80 in points and only made $4 for all 4 items. YAY!

I am so disappointed at my september box. Not kidding it sucked! heres what I recieved
1) Nail strips= With chetah print on it. its wierd cause it has 6 strips. Like should I give one hand a manicure? and the 6th strip for the extra thumb I'm born with? Confused
2) lip conditioner= Its a good product but the quantity is rediculiously small!
3) LVN perfum sample= It smells good but its not deluxe sized. Its something I can get for free from macys or sephora. literly those lil samples. SAD!
4) Pagea Face cream= The ONLY product I LIKED! i recieved a face wash from this brand last month and I absolutely loved it. Glad I got to try their face cream. and this was the only deluxe sized sample.
5) Ugly bracelet or should I a say a string of thread= Its a string of pink thread they gave with a cheap lil steel charm.apparently its a gift for their one year anniversary. its more like a slap on the face.
Over all I hated the box this month. I dont know if i want to order next months subscrpition. blah!

Yeah, got pretty much the same and was disappointed big time, like you said, the samples were like Sephora/Ulta size, not deluxe at all. I did like the nail stickers though, got them in a gorgeous design but my mom totally cancelled her subscription. I dont want to cancel as of yet but if it continues, I think I will. Meh.

I think it was obvious that these are just gonna get worse as time goes on. By the time you quit, they have already made some money from you.
Most of the companies probably give them free samples to distribute because they are new and trying to get the brand/product out there. I do a lot of online shopping and I often get free samples of new products with my order and this seems no different except you're paying for it.
