Re: Monster in laws
larki:
I don’t know…I think things are changing…here anyway. I know of a few couples that got divorced because of the parents’ interference (in some cases it was the guy’s in others it was the girl’s) and I guess the problem was they couldn’t tell their parents to back off without hurting them. Here are two cases that happened to two of my friends:
Case 1: the couple went to visit the girl’s family and the girl’s mother decided that her SIL should buy her daughter some clothes. She took her daughter shopping and made her get all sorts of expensive things using the SIL’s credit card.
Case 2: the couple planned a trip by car to spend some time alone and when the girl’s parents found out where they were going, they asked if they could come along because they had to get something important from there but they couldn’t afford to go any other way. the couple agreed but they weren’t happy about it because it was supposed to be a private trip for the two of them.
In both cases the girl’s parents interfered. What should the girls have done in both cases?
case 1; the dil is old enoughto decide whether this is a way of getting back at her hubby.
case 2: the girls parents should not interfere, coz they were going out as a ‘family’. this could have been there chance to move closer together, and with her parents being there, it would have made things uncomfortable.
