The current laws in many countries that do not allow more than 1 wife but also do not punish co-habitation/adultery with multiple partners are beneficial to men. Many men have mistresses and bear them kids, yet they do not get any social benefits from state and no rights in property or no compensation if separation occurs.
Isn’t this against the women’s rights. WHy don’t we hear anythign on thsi from feminists.

So very true...I think the cohabitation situation does however has legal grounds for maybe getting some sort of money outta the guy but not as much as being married and divorcing.
What planet are you on? Do you know how many adultery cases get taken to court? You can sue your husband for cheating on you.
If a husband wants to cheat, and he finds someone to cheat with him, then regardless of whether you have polygamy laws or not, that illicit relationship will take place. Guys, in fact, would RATHER cheat, than marry the other woman, because they dont have the responsibility. So even if you have polygamy laws in place, that won't stop them from cheating, as long as they can find someone willing.
Its not about falling in love with another person, as much as it is about doing something "bad"...about being that "bad boy".
Polygamy is allowed in Pakistan, and how many people cheat there? Lots of people do.

bcoz they are full of hypocracy! they all talk about women being equal to men but ALWAYS have women standing at car racing / wrestling/ promotional events! as if they are gonna reap the benifits of a women's sensuality!
and b4 some ppl start attacking me about the muslim world... yes, i agree with you! there's hypocracy there as well.

Enlighten me
And its not about sueing.
My point is that there are women who willingly live or have relationships with married men for years but never get any benefits that married couples get. The mistress misses out if there is separation or death of provider. The law does not prevent these men to cohabit these women but prevents them to hae any legal rights.
The laws against polygamy do also discourage illicit affairs. If a woman CHOOSES to have an illicit relationship with a married man, she is not entitled to benefits from his health insurance, income, tax status etc. So WHY get involved with a married man??? She SHOULD NOT. She gets no benefit from the relationship whatsoever. But again, the guy who fathers an illegitimate child is legally responsible for providing monetary child support.
Beleive me, monogomy laws do not protect men. If a man fathers a child with a woman other than his wife, he does have to pay child support for the child. AND his wife has legal rights to dissolve the marriage, keep the house and get the lion's share of his income and assets. Cheating men pay a huge price when the wife decides that enough is enough.
^ I agree. Making polygamy legal (without restrictions, as you find it in Islam) would PROMOTE exploration of extra-marital affairs, and women would jump on the opportunity to entire men away from attending to their marriages even more if it meant getting rights to some of their wealth.
Keep in mind that polygamy in islam, as controversial as it is, has many restrictions, and that's why, I think, you don't see women running to engage in Polygamy in Pakistan and other muslim countries, and why you don't see most muslim men persuing it as an option. That still doesn't stop them from having affairs.
