Besides bank to bank transfers..what have your experiences been about transferring money or receiving money from Pakistan. I’ve used moneygram..and even sent cash a few times by mail. Moneygram though doesn’t transfer to all places and it does charge a lot if you are sending small sums.
For those wanting to get money from Pakistan…for small amounts (especially for students) i recommend using a bank in pakistan which offers debit cards..like Muslim Commercial Bank or Alfalah..that way you can just withdraw money directly from your pak account.
In Pakistan, now money can easily be transferred to almost every country of the world and can be recieved in the same way almost every place in Pakistan through Western Union. Its charges are high but as compared to its service. It is unmatchable. Money can be received and sent at any Zarco Exchange location in Pakistan. Further, Zarco Exchange issues Visa Debit Card (USD) that can be encashed at any VISA ATM machine worldwide. Its charges are very low. More info you can get from the web www.zarcoexchange.com
Ever heard of Joint Credit cards?
Get a credit card with 200 quid limit and give it to your parents (father or mother) in Pakistan & let them use it. Pay the bill when it comes. They wont be able to spend more than the limit (usually monthly).
One off payments can be made through Western Union the only reliable way for Pakistan. Even bank transfer sometimes gets edgy and takes time. Or if any relative/friend is going to Pakistan you can give cash to him/her.
Pakremit.com is launched by National Bank of Pakistan to transfer money to Pakistan, I haven't experienced it yet, but my father told me that I can ALSO transfer money to my regular (non-dollar) account in Pakistan using this service.
I you wana do it quick - MoneyGram (9.99$ fee for sending up to 999$) is the way to go. Money is usually available for withdrawal within next 1 hour else I use UBL's click n remit that takes around 2 business day and money get deposited in Pakistani account directly!
