Money: Love, Hate Relationship

Re: Money: Love, Hate Relationship

Parents need to assure themselves that they are still needed, while parents-in-law are always trying to make their sons & daughter-in-laws closer to what they deem perfect.

It is said that the best thing you can do to a gift is to use it but I know sometimes it’s hard. I was given a very slick shalwar kameez by my mil, but the last time I ever wore a shalwar kameez was at my wedding, so it’s still hanging in the closet. I think she will really appreciate it if I wear it the next time she comes around for a visit. I will probably look stupid but if it brings a smile, it’s worth me killing my ego. Same can be said to the expensive watch I was given at my wedding, while it’s very nice I like my 20 dollar Casio better. I often try to justify myself that I don’t need to become what my wife, parents or others want me to be and if I do something that they want and I don’t, I will be giving in my individuality but sometimes I think that it will really take a confident & controlled person to give up his preference for others and not sulk over it and stand by things that really matter in principle & belief.

Still, there is nothing wrong with you.
