Money from parents?

At what age do you think you should stop asking money from your parents?

Re: Money from parents?

As soon as you earn enough to start giving them money.

I'd hope that would be as soon as possible for myself.

As soon as you start working.

Re: Money from parents?

Yup, you should stop it as soon as you start working even if its a odd-job. Rather you should start contributing in your parents' funds.

We stop but parents never stop giving us money.

Re: Money from parents?

never

Re: Money from parents?

^ I agree...that's what parents are for lol!

Re: Money from parents?

With your own money , you don't care . But with your parent's money , you think twice . At least I do .

Re: Money from parents?

soooo tru ... ill never stop n even if i do theyll keep givin

Re: Money from parents?

I stopped taking money from my Parents as soon as I turned 16, :D but my Dad still gives me money even though I don't need it.

I either just forward that money to my little sister or just spend it on household stuff. :)

Re: Money from parents?

Hmmm I used to get and still get pocket money from my parents and I used to buy whatever I wanted from it. Education & all off course they funded but I never asked for any heavy amount of money to fulfil my wishes . Like I always wanted to have a laptop & in Pakistan it was a luxury to have it when I was in my teens and I actually waited like 9-10 years to buy it for myself. When I started working I saved money and got my first laptop for 60k :) it felt very good :D. And to answer your question there is no set or predetermined age as soon as you start working (even if its an odd job) stop asking for money.

Re: Money from parents?

when parents stop giving it :hehe:

o well i dont like to take it anyways. if i dont have money i will limit spendings.

Re: Money from parents?

I stopped when I started working. And that was when I was 19.

Re: Money from parents?

y shud we stop asking for money from parents? i think i can never do that ;)

What the man said. Now I give money and never ask for any.

My parents did so much for me when i was finishing my undergrad as well as med school. Now Alhamdulli'lah i take care of everything.

Re: Money from parents?

I stopped when I started college- which was at 16 because I skipped grades. I had scholarship money which lasted me well through the 4 years of undergrad and now loan money through grad school. They usually give cash gifts for birthdays, good scores etc though- which helps a LOT!

when i got married....lol, however while i was working and unmarried, my dad still tried to give me money and tell me to save mine...awwwwwww, i didnt take it though, only at birthdays and eid..

Re: Money from parents?

never. its fun when u get parents to spend on u.
for instance my brother earns enough but um he likes dad spending on him like for instance dad takes his car to workshop because my brother is busy so dad ends up paying for it and he never asks for it (because so far now he had been spending on us kids, so why not now).and i find it cute.

Re: Money from parents?

not to say am greedy .. but parents gather their wealth so they can look after their kids .. and when the kids become parents .. same thing happens all over again ....

so if they keep giving .. you shudnt decline .. but it dont mean that you be ungrateful .. that they given ya a grand to spend and you cant even buy them a gift on mothers / fathers day .. thas just lame and other stuff too like taking em out on outings etc etc etc ..and if you treat your parents well .. you will wana do same for your kids and your kids will treat you well ..

and when it comes to treating .. money plays a big role .. well in this day n age atleast..

plus i certainly agree with Namaan that .. you think twice when it aint your own earnt with you own sweat and hard labour .. you do qadr of what you have ..
