err can somone explain wot the heck is so out of this world about this perticular painting? I mean its good and everything but so are soooooooooo many other paintings yet this one is the most famous of all times i think.
Re: Mona Lisa
Beats me. I have said this before and will say it again that there are/were many who do not enjoy the publicity and recognition which they deserve. I guess it's all about what the public goes for and how much publicity is done. Mona Lisa have recieved tremendous publicity and therefore, is considered one of the most famous and studied painting in the world.
I have noticed that most of the time, we are not ready to accept the fact that the generation which comes later on can be as much talented as the earlier one but then you should also consider that most of the time, the techniques we find today are based on earlier ones and we may have more supplies and resources today which were not available few hundred years back. Hence, people will give more value to previous work.

Re: Mona Lisa
Mona Lisa.. Freaky.. yea .. mysterious .. yea.. pretty .. umm i dunno..
whats so great about Mona Lisa and her mysterious smile.
Many question that , including myself..
Leonardo himself loved the portrait, so much so that he always carried it with him. So the mystery of why he carried this painting with himself gave it a whole lot of publicity.. Mna Lisa, Evidently married to some other dude, .. this unfound un satisfied love of the artist .. made it sort of a legend.. In 1911 it got stolen and later became found in Florence.. All these incidents gave the portrait the publicity it needed to become the most famous, most talked about piece..
Re: Mona Lisa
It is Da vinci’s greatest work
but to me she is just manly and little bit ugly. Her mysterious smile as everyone said is nothing just mischievous to me
And as far I remember it became famous in nineteenth century long after DA Vinci was gone. Becharay ko khud to khuch mila nahi ab famous honey kaa faida ![]()
Waisay her eik ki personal choice kaa mamla hai but seriously I don’t like this picture.

Re: Mona Lisa
mona lisa was made around 1503-05, during High Renaissance Period by Leonardo Davinci.
-
for centuries no one knows who is she. some says its someone who never existed (so Leonardo created someone out of his mind.)
-
some presented theory that she is Leonardo himself.
but now researchers-historians have find out that its a painting of Italian Merchants wife. -
interesting scientific features:
- No eye brows

*her enigmatic gaze- no matter where you standing they gonna follow you. and you gonna feel that they are looking at you
*her mysterious smile- no one can tell is she smiling or what. her expressions are pretty vauge. nine ten years ago i read a scientific study on her smile which said that her smile is like that because she is grinding her teeth (and i think this grinding of teeth do make sense).
*her disproportional looking body- her body looks odd, but it is mathematically and scientifically correct.
***back ground **- is marvelleous. Leonardo introduced sfumato (smoking kinda effect using translucent layers of colour to create perceptions of depth, volume and form, or gradient you may say)
- No eye brows
