This movie turned even me, a concrete feminist, off.
I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone, but did anyone see it??
I mean, I guess the plot was good and all - another Anne of Avonlea kind of role (new teacher trying to get her students to think outside the box) - but it left me feeling kind of hollow inside.
i saw it and enjoyed it but definitely saw places that could have improved. i think julia stiles was actually pretty good, but julia r and kirsten d were only okay. the story itself was okay, fairly predictible.
i liked all the art in it, but often very shallow discussions. perhaps what i liked more was the portrayal of the struggles of a beginning teacher. but that’s probably cuz i’m a little biased :halo:.
yeah i know - after taking art history classes myself - you can tell the film-makers didn't do too much research on the difference between a quality art history professor and their opposites.
Chic flicks put girls in the mood for marriage - this one, well, it does the opposite, but it doesn't do too good of a job. I certainly didn't feel like kicking male arse afterwards.
A good feminist movie makes you want to kick the first guy you see right where it hurts.
