Re: My “birthplan”.
reading through this wishlist, I cannot but wonder whether 50% of the things are already present and the remaining 50% are only given when there’s a strong indication for that. Just a sample:
I haven’t ever come across a delivery where these things aren’t automatically present. I assume u’ll be in a hospital, so I don’t see why the need to put these things up in the birth plan.
I think this is self-evident. The gynaec doesn’t rupture those things for fun, so when s/he will do it there will be an indication for that.
This depends on the reason why labor isn’t progressing. No use of asking for this beforehand. If a sectio is necessary, then there’s no need to break the membrane beforehand.
this one is the most surprising to me. I don’t think anesthesia should be given on request. Only when there’s an indication should it be administered.
That’s quite obvious in present-day medicine
i don’t know if they’ll allow him on OT
this is self-evident. They won’t put him in an incubator for no reason.
duuuuuh!
i think everyone does
that also depends on the situation, no need to plan this in advance.
self-evident

how do u want a baby to be exmained under a blanket? and on a soft abdomen?
I’ve never heard of a circumcision on the day of birth ![]()
this is unfair! how else do u want these ppl to be trained? students i can imagine. But interns and even residents!!! don’t tell me u want a senior house member to attend ‘just another’ delivery!
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".

Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".

or were u really kidding
ILOVEMYBABY; good luck once again with the birth i will pray for u and let us know how it went!
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
^^ Actually I was not, I have not heard of JFK Hospital nor Have I heard of FDR hospital or GWB Hospital. Usually the three, that will be JFK,FDR, and GWB are commonly referred in NY as the airport, highway/drive, bridge.
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
To,
ILOVEMYBABY.
Once your baby comes out, please and PLEASE stay away from gunduk (giving your infant honey). Honey should not be given to infants till they reach age three. I know all pakis and indians give it to babies but it is dangerous and can cause some brain damage. I am serious. Mamaof3 can expound on that.
Also It is not necessary to take you babies head and flatten it (from the back), leave it the way way it is (also a stupid jahil ritual/tradition in India/pakistan).
I am sure all you chickies knew about these.
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
yeah verizon i agree. people r so particular about 'sar banao'.
wots wrong with the sar(head) that Allah designed for the baby? and besides, it looks good round
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
Yes, Verizon is right. Honey contains trace amounts of the spores that cause botulism. The amounts are not high enough to actually cause botulism in anyone over the age of 2 when the immune system is more developed. Before age 2, you're posing a real risk of botulism which can be fatal to an infant. I know one mother who told me "well, I only gave my baby a little dot of honey in the milk." Well guess what - all it takes is one microscopic spore.
Re: MOMs once again “BIRTHPLAN”.
I have never heard of such rituals before. I’ve heard of rubbing ata on a baby’s face so that the baby is fair and won’t have facial hair … but it all sounds so strange.
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
^^ I have I grew up in Pakistan. I am sure if you ask around you will be able to validate what I said.
P.S didnt know about ata
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
I believe you Verizon.
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
Verizon I think even in pakistan the doctors tell you to stay away from honey now... Although what i dont understand is that before everyone use to give a newborn baby honey first tthing.... nothing is wrong with those ppl?? how come???
Re: MOMs once again "BIRTHPLAN".
sue me for that ...!!! honey is mentioned in holy Qran as a cure for everything ......i give honey to my kids quite often .....n Alhamdulillah they r fine...!!!

Re: MOMs once again “BIRTHPLAN”.
^^ Now the hospital name changed from JFK to LOL? ![]()
Anyway, I didn’t know about aata and I didn’t know about flattening the back of the head as well. However, there’s this annoying custom of flattening the forehead
My daadi used to do that to my brothers and my cousins and I am sure she did that to me too. When the baby was laying, she would just press the forehead firmly to give it some kind of shape. I don’t know why women do that. If flat forehead or back of the head was any better, I am sure Allah would’ve created that already and the child would be born with it, ladies wouldn’t have to do it.
