Moments to remember

Re: Moments to remember

it was not 80, itwas 196 to be exact…

Re: Moments to remember

If that was the case, than this should be taken away from this thread. Since196 its a good fight back, but memorable moment....??

Re: Moments to remember

^ well it was quite memorable given that srilanka were 157/1 in 35 overs, needing 40 to win from 15 overs with 9 wickets in hand....

to draw a match from there is quite a remarkable performance....

Re: Moments to remember

A memorable match from Reliance Cup (WC '87). It was one of the famous victories of Pakistan in WC competitions, where Pakistan won a sensational match against Windies at Lahore by 1 wicket.

http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/WORLD_CUPS/WC87/GROUP-B/WI_PAK_WC87_ODI9_16OCT1987.html

Windies, batting first, lost the advantage of 90+ opening stand by Haynes and debutant Simmons, thanks to the efforts of Khan Sahib and Salim Jaffer (I hated the guy due to his 18 runs over against Australia in the semi final)

Pakistan chasing a target of 217, lost couple of quick wickets in the middle and were not looking good. However it was the crucial partnership of Khan Sahib and Saleem Yousuf which brought Pakistan back in the game.
I remember, Yousuf was regarded as the “Man of Crises” during those days. He was a true fighter (a trait which we have seen in all of our wicket keepers). His quick fire 50 brought Pakistan closer to the target, however Pakistan started losing wickets and were 9 down in the second last over with 14 needed.
Those who watched the match cannot ever forget the final over. Not only because Abdul Qadir managed to score 10 runs of last 3 balls with the help of a huge six but also because of the display of sportsman spirit by Walsh before delivering the final delivery.
Unfortunately, Pakistan’s fairy tale journey ended after 3 weeks of this victory at the same ground, when they were beaten by the underdogs by 18 runs. Abdul Qadir was again there playing along with the final wicket but couldn’t repeat his performance.

So guppies, get ready to refresh your memories as I have managed to upload this memorable match against Windies online. It is in 5 parts and all together is for approx. 1 hour. The download time for 5 parts all together should be around 1 hour but it is worth waiting.
