LAHORE – A woman strangled her six-year-old son to death to take revenge from her ex-husband, police said Tuesday. The sad incident took place in the Sabzazaar area.
“I mercilessly killed my son to take revenge from my ex-husband who left me for another woman in Multan,” the killer mother told police investigators.
The deceased minor was identified as Usman. The police investigators believe that Najma Yasmeen, a resident of Jameel Town, was severely annoyed with her husband Waseem Sy
Police Station Shabzazaar investigation in-charge Inspector Azam Manhais said Wasim had married first time some seven years back but the couple remained always engaged in quarrels over various family disputes. “According to the accused woman, Waseem had been living with his second wife in Multan after contracting a secret marriage some four years back,” he added.
The inspector further said here on Tuesday evening at about 6:00 pm the couple quarrelled again. Meanwhile, the ill-fated Usman appeared on the scene and tried to reconcile his parents, completely unaware about his own fate.
Following special directives by the SP (Investigation) Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, the investigation team raced to the crime scene and arrested the woman red handed.
An FIR has also been lodged against the accused woman on the statement of her husband. During preliminary investigation, the woman has confessed of her heinous act of crime. Later, the police shifted the dead body to the City morgue for autopsy. Further investigations are underway.
Sadly enough it does, there has been several cases of this happening in england recently as well, i remember reading about it. and it's happens the other way round as well, fathers killing their children to take revenge.
no matter what the partner has done, there is no excuse at all to justify killing a child.
doesn't make sense to me.. why not just kill the husband ? hurting an innocent child seems rather pathetic to me, not that i'am saying go kill your husbands.. just a thought

couple things:
how did SP Cheema know that a quarrel was underway that he sent investigators to the site fast enough to catch her "red-handed", which btw would mean that she was in the process of strangling the child and he was still alive.
and then why would an FIR based on the husband's statement be needed when the police officers themselves could see the crime be committed?

Police said Waseem Sohail of Jamil Town contracted second marriage with Saima of Multan some six months ago. As a result, Sohail’s relations with his first wife, Yasmin, were strained and they would often quarrel on this issue.Quoting Yasmin, the police said Sohail exchanged words with her when she asked him to give her and her son, Usman, proper time.Sohail, however, ignored her and went to Faisalabad to meet his relatives. From there he went to Multan.On Tuesday, Yasmin strangled Usman and informed Sohail about her act. She told him that she could not look after Usman alone.The police arrested Yasmin and registered a case against her on the complaint of Sohail.Usman’s body was sent to the city morgue for an autopsy.
