What would your reaction be if your son or daughter told you that he/she is homosexual or bisexual?

How would you handle the situation. Condemn them, throw a bata chappal at em, accept his/her orientation?

Oh man - its in control. You got a understand the psychology stuff here .. it could be a lengthy discussion but i can put money on that .. I can even make you gay if you act on my instructions and act the way i want you to .. .. .. all i need to is to manipulate your brain a little bit .. .. ..

similarly people who give arguments that its not in their control .. .. thats the biggest crap they can even say .. .. but since we are living in a culture where everything in person's personality is "Accepted" as his individuality .. .. we accept this fact as well .. .. But if you look at the bottom then you will realize its just against the SOCIAL NORMS of a society. Its just can't exist .. .. unless you give it enough space to exist just like a bacteria survive when placed in favorable environment.

Did God creat Adam and Steve or did He create Adam and Eve .. ?? How would you carry on society when there is no one to "reproduce" ..

Not a magician .. just have a little knowledge of psychology and knows how a human brain works. Remember, Sex is all about your brain intentions .. .. all you wana know is how to control it.

From where their family came from? obviously from someone who is straight. They adopted and created a family.

From Many reasons ...one of the reason we are here is because of the Nation of Lut .. I mean am talking reverse psychology here .. that They were gay and Allah destroyed that nation .. because from many major sins qaum e lut comitted was homosexuality ....It shows that how utterly it is desliked by Allah Almighty that the whole nation was destroyed except a few .. now if that was something was accepted in society and Allah Almighty ...that nation may have lived but only till they all died cos no 'reproduction' :@: .. as a consequence we are here that for 'man' to exist ..he neeeds to adapt to the natural way of life ..being striaght ..

Hence, my answer to a homo wud be a NO NO..simply not accepted ..and to answer the question .. I ll do what the previous prophets did ..i.e. Follow their way and uphold the law of Allah almighty ...by disowning him/her ..like the wife of lut AS was destroyed, son of prophet Nooh AS drowned because he went against the will of Allah ..and if Allah dislikes homosexuality .. then I dont like it either.

I would pinch him every time he says the word 'gay' - aversion therapy at its best =P

Jokes aside, I'd tell him/her, even if you are gay, remember which acts your religion permits and which it forbids. Hopefully, I will raise my kids with enough religious awareness that they can make the distinction.

I'll have to disagree. Homosexuality has existed in almost all ages. Some people are just naturally inclined. Given the VAST amount of physical 'abnormalities' humans can have, it is not hard to fathom that they may have psychological 'abnormalities' too, one of which is homosexuality. The human mind is highly complex.

Now the huge numbers we see in the west are not necessarily due to natural inclination. Media hype, mistreatment by people of the opposite sex, acceptance in general, porn and other reasons have made it much much more prevalent and turned it into a 'choice.'

However, to say that it is completely unnatural is not true. Homosexual behavior is seen in animals too.

Seems like at least one person will say humans are not animals...but but but...we have the same creator. And and and, we justify other sexual tendencies, such as those in males, using the same logic of natural inclination.

If my child said that...I would freak out. I would probably go crazy and be completely disappointed. However, once he/she is on her own and once I have done my part in explaining what is 'right' or 'wrong' (and I would do that for a looong time), I would have to respect his/her personal choice. In the end, his life will be more his than it will be mine.

You explained my point of view in more detail and with reasons. I didn't go into that detail but when i referred to 'by choice' thing .. I mean it the way you explained it .. .. .. I totally agree with it.

I'd totally freak out ofc, but in the end, there's really nothing you can do. It's basically displeasing Allah SWT for no reason whatsoever. If that's what she/he wants, so be it. But he won't get any financial or moral support from me.

Quran accepts that - there are these tendencies in some people. Yet, they need to control them and not give into them. (sorry don't have reference on me - I believe I saw it through Hamza Yousaf?)

Anyway - that will be my stance. I will tell them that a parent still loves the kid, if they are truly so (and not going through a phase) - they just need to control it.

Well, you can't really stop your kids (at least older ones) from sinning. All you can do is show them the right path. In this case, I'll have ONE conversation only about the subject. I won't keep bringing it up. As I said, it's their choice...
