Moin Khan, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper and captain, has been named Pakistan’s new head coach. Khan will replace Dav Whatmore, whose contract expires this month. The decision was taken at a management committee meeting, a day after the governing board of the Pakistan Cricket Board was dissolved.
Aamer Sohail was removed as chief selector after being appointed only last week. He will be replaced by former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Khan, who will head an interim selection committee.
Sohail has been given the position of director, game and development in the board.
Among the other decisions taken at the meeting, the committee endorsed Mohammad Akram’s extension as Pakistan’s bowling coach.

Good news for us is that Aamir Sohail is no longer Chief Selector. That's a big win for Pakistan overall. Azhar Khan's a different beast all together, hopefully he is interim and someone else is appointed. Good to see Zaheer Abbas as a batting consultant. Moin Khan, I have my doubts as well but really what coaching background does he have? ICL coach of Lahore Badshahs? Hmmmm.... Waqar wanted a lot of money, like Whatmore-ish $$$, I think that might have led to his downfall. Najam Sethi and Moin Khan have a history it seems? Who knows their relationship but I guess they're working together.

So ehsaan bhai, is this good or bad news?
As a player I rated Moin Khan very highly and as a wicket keeper, batsmen and captain he was good. I am not aware of his coaching abilities but one thing is for sure he will be giving his best for Pakistan. However, this circus saga in PCB has to stop and ganja has better things to do than meddle in cricket.

I think the emphasis on coaches 'being certified or certifate-yafta' is overdone these days. Once you have played the game at the highest level + have good inter-personal skills (being an ex-national captain helps) you should be able to do the job and help the players in one discipline atleast (batting, bowling or fielding). And once you are good enough to play for your country, you shouldn't be needing hard-core coaching anyway. Ex-greats like Zaheer, Miandad or Inzi etc. can impart batting tips and fine tune certain flaws in your technique, but they can't make you bat well. By then it's too late!

Moin certainly fits the bill imo
by the way, do we know that in whole subcontinent, only zaheer abass has scored over 100 first class centuries...gavaskar, tendulkar, minadad, inzi, dravid no one even comes close...i think zaheer has 132 first class centuries
