Demands immediate recovery from kidnappers

Islamabad March 28, 2007: Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto has condemned the kidnapping of three children belonging to the Hindu community in Sindh and demanded their immediate recovery and punishment to the kidnappers.
Three children Oam Parkash (6) in Jacobabad and Pun Kumar (14) and Tun Shaw (4) in Kashmore were kidnapped by outlaws during the past week. Tun Shaw was released but the other two children are still in the custody of kidnappers and the police have not yet been able to recover them.
In a statement today former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto said that the continued incidents of kidnapping and harassment of Hindus and other minorities in the country particularly in Sindh had sent very wrong signals about Pakistan to the international community.
"The regime must put its act together with respect to law and order and particularly with regard to the treatment meted out to the minorities" Meanwhile on the directions of Mohtarma Bhutto the PPP MNA Ramesh Lal visited the aggrieved families to commensurate with them. She also asked the Party leadership and MNA Ramesh Lal to pursue the case with the local administration and ensure that the children were released from captivity.
She said that the basic responsibility of the regime was the maintenance of law and order and if the regime failed to provide it to the citizens it had no business to stay in power.
Mohtarma Bhutto also asked members of civil society and human rights bodies to raise their voice against growing lawlessness in the country.
The PPP Chairperson expressed sympathies with the aggrieved families of the kidnapped children and said that the Party would do everything to ensure that the children were recovered soon and safely and that the perpetrators of the crime were punished under the law

going by the type of posts I am seeing regarding lalmasjid and peace brokering...I guess a proper response would be something like..she had the kidnapping done in order to gain political points.
Anyways, the latter half of the article shows that wether or not she was behind the kidnapping, she sure is milking it to gain political currency.
But going by her own statement that a regime that can not maintain law and order should not be in power, I guess she should not come back in power, because we all saw what happened in her era.

Another sad news.. I feel very bad for minority communities everywhere.. (be it Pak, India or Bangladesh)... they are either the targets of communal voilence.. or political exploitation

But going by her own statement that a regime that can not maintain law and order should not be in power, I guess she should not come back in power, because we all saw what happened in her era.
She brought back law and order to a Karachi that was flowing with blood from MQM terrorists.
The way Gen.Babar did it was not perfect, and you may not like it, but it can't be argued that peace did not return to Karachi once the MQM terrorists were beaten down.

yes this can be termed as crocodile tears.in reality she never did anything for minorities like seeta incident on 1989 or hudood laws or blasphemy laws. after musharraf removed separate electorate in 2002. she now needs minority votes. nevertheless there are many hindus in his party but her intentions cannot be guessed.
musharraf is far better in this regard like maintenance of hindu/sikh shrines with a strong PSGPC and a working evacuee trust.
even the MNA's from minorities like krishan bheel are no worth as it was with their
concent that Nawaz sharif removed 6 percent quoto for SC's in gov jobs in 1999 ( 6 percent beacuse sc's were 6 percent in pakistan in 1947 )

some days backs similar condemnation of rape of hindu women in sind was done by her. thing is the steps/ agenda for minorities she should follow after coming to power. Z.A. bhutto's acts on minorities in Bangladesh cannot be removed from history.

12year old kids behead "suspected" agents, blame Mqm.
Geta life dude, what wud your BB do if there was no Mqm to blame? Call the FSF that was created by her father? Set up Dalai camps like her father did? Kidnap political leaders and put them in torture cells, like her father did?
But no, she desnt have to follow her father cause she has Asif Zardari, afterall he can kill Murtaza Bhutto, take 10%, kidnap businessmen for extortion, loot and plunder the country and then blame Mqm, right?

i dont know why i am getting the impression that apart from minorities every other person is SAFE in Pakistan.
No on efrom the majority is kidnapped, killed, raped ever and a single incident catchs the attention of the MOST CORRUPT Politician ever.
Good point...Its usually been the weaker segments of society that this sort of thing happens to, be they a member of some minority or just some poor farmer or laborer... Its unfortunate that Hindus form part of this weaker segment, but I seriously doubt the kidnappers care what faith these kids follow, its only because they easy to exploit and victimize... It could just as easily have been a poor Musim. So in the end its not really about faith, its about victimization of people who cant defend themselves. This is a failure of the state, that they cant provide protection for these people... But then again, these days even the rich arent immune as they are the ones kidnappers know will pay most readily.

yep, its such a peaceful country that aside from minorities no one faces any risk at all. whatever we read in papers about shootings, kidnaps, idiotic panchayat punishments etc dont really happen and that is why the exalted leader benazir chooses not to say anything about it.

The only fault of victums is that they are victums, no matter poor or rich.
The Kidnappers normally turn poor victums into beggars or they may sell them out as a whole or as in parts ,i.e. organs.
To me state should held responsible for all of these crimes. one shuold accuse them for not being able to provide the one the basics, the security for the weak.
