Mohsin Hasan Khan, the former Test Cricketer, has been appointed Pakistan’s new chief selector in place of Iqbal Qasim.

Mohsin Khan is not a bad choice in the present circumstances. The coming few months will test his selecting skills for sure

If only he is allowed to Select.. if BUTT continued to mingle in the selection process, then even Imran Khan can not produce any results..

This might be good for young Karachi cricketers, and over all talented cricketers across Pakistan because this is going to be a fulltime paid position so he is free to travel and check other talented cricketerrs in the country. Unfortunately, Iqbal Qasim was only an honorary selector with a fulltime job so he never travelled.

However, unfortunatley, Mohammad Ilyas (susarji) is still part of the selection committee so Imran Farhat will continue to be a permanent fixture in all 3 formats.

what previous experience does Mohsin Khan have in player selection, where he has shown a good eye for assessing player ability ?

So neither Mohsin nor Saeed are good enough to assess players abilities? You have to give person a responsibility to see how he would do. You keep raising the same question for everyone PCB choses.

Not everyone is a born Imran Khan or Wasim Akram or Miandad who can pick a future star from streets.

It doesn't matter who the chief selector is, as long as Mohammad Ilyas a.k.a. susarjee is a part of the selection committe, we're doomed:(

I have every confidence that Mohsin Khan will be just as logical and sensible with his new duties as he has been with all the decisions in his life thus far such as trying to become a Bolllywood hero, marrying Reena Roy, etc.

You seem to have a grudge against every single selector/official, who do you think will be more capable of being good 'selector'?

I don't have a grudge against every single official, etc. I'm not the one who posts blanket statements like if Ijaz Butt or PCB's done something, anything it must be wrong like many folks here.

Mohsin Khan has never come across to me as a consistent person in terms of cricket thinking. regardless of that I'm all for stability and long tenures. doesn't matter who you appoint and in what capacity, give them give. so, if Mohsin Khan's been appointed, give him time. if Waqar's been appointed, give him time. heck even Afridi is appointed as captain (may God have mercy on me), then even give him time.

I think Rashid Latif and Wasim Akram would make excellent selectors. I would like to mention others like Majid and Asif Iqbal as well though Asif sahib might not be willing to travel, etc.

I was expecting him to be better than Iqbal Qasim, but from what he said today he has completely let me down and disappointed me. He called Akmal an exceptional player who should be playing ‘all’ formats :smack: great…a chief selector who loves Akmal.

I think we need to somehow setup a meeting of Mohsin with fkhan2 so he can show him the horrors that we have been through because of Akmal’s keeping over the last few years. Its very, very obvious that the guy should be no where near our test team to everyone except Mohsin I guess.
