ICC should be consistent in whatever they want to implement. Aussie bowlers stare down batsmen all the time. I think little bit of emotion and passion is good for the entertainment aspect of the game.
Good job ICC. What Asif did was completely classless. I saw it live and I said at that time, this is so terrible. A bowler can celebrate all he wants with his team-mates. He can be an aeroplane (like Actor) or do bhangra. No problem. But when the bowler starts taunting the out going batsman or giving them angry stares, it crosses the line. The batsman is already on his way out; what else do you want now .. a wrestling match?? Ahmaq insaan. Anyway, hopefully he got his lesson. Next time he does that, kick his arse with a ban or something so the message gets across even better.
I am ok when you said that what he did was classless, I don't agree but I am ok since everyone can view it differently.
But how can you praise ICC? ICC have failed to take actions on numerous occasions in the past when more stringent punishments were needed and you know very well why. When a body like ICC exhibits such discrimination and double standards, do you really think they are doing a good job in response to such incidents?
What pisses me off is that sissy bowlers like Srinadh are handing out reprimands to POSITIVE and ATTRACTIVE cricketers who pull in the crowds. I don't think what Asif did to Mahela deserved even a nod from the ref. Stoopid ICC refs - they will drain the game to boredom.
Alright i just watched the video. Asif did wrong, he got what he deserved having said that, ICC should have uniform application of law all across. Australian and SA bowlers normally get the benefit of "circumstances" like "Nel was hit for six before and it was crucial wicket etc etc....", either everyone should get the benefit or Aus and SA should not get that either. (Asif was hit for a splendid 4 by Jaiwardane a ball before that can upset any bowler of the world let alone fast bowler)
You have to take human emotions into account. Can't be so strick and robotic. No harm was done and I believe had they given a chance to Asif, he would have apologized and regret what happened. Having said that, the whole situation was accidental rather diliberate.
Giving examples of other lamers is not an argument I want to be in. Have you ever gotten out of a ticket by arguing that other drivers are also driving at 80 mph? Its a nonsensical argument. If you break the law, you break the law. EOS.
Fayz, a bowler can stare down a batsman all he wants, when the batsman is playing. I don't have a problem when a bowler gives an angry stare at the batsman after being hit for a shot or after a good delivery. At that point the game is on. Batsman can retaliate in a cricketing way by hitting a 4 or a 6. But after the batsman is out, to carry on such antics is wrong, IMO. You've got your revenge. Celebrate with your team-mates.

couldn't say it better ...... a friend of mine told me on phone that while watching the scene Live on TV he really felt ashamed
of what was Asif doing..... and rightly so .....
Man grow up, u r not the 1st bowler to to be hit for 4's and 6's and surely not the last .....
The point is not that Asif got warned... while watching the match, I too felt that what Asif was doing was wrong - the point is that ICC is inconsistent in handling such issues.
Dumb move to warn him. Is Srinath forgetting his own kawa-like stares and faces when he used to bowl? Funny how these people have short memories as soon as they begin working for the ICC.
The ICC match referees are the most racist and incompetent lot of jokers in the game - when Nel, Kallis, Boucher, Gibbs curse opponents and sledge people left right and centre, they say ' oh they`re so competitive' and when Pakistanis do the same ' its unsportsmanship'. Excuse me? Do South Africans have white blood, or something ?
Its time India,Pakistan and Co take on the double standards of the ICC..People moan about the Aussies sledging - however they cant even hold a candle to the likes of the South Africans, who get away with murder. On the other hand, when our own teams show a little bit of fire...they're pulled up. Its B.S .
Two wrongs don't make a right. Yes the ICC in inconsistent in dealing with such issues but what Asif did cannot and should not be condoned. He got what he deserved.
