Mohammad Yousuf

I dont know i just feel bad for him. Yes he got Afridi run out and later got himself too (which should be punishment enough). I just hope there is no love lost between him and other guys because of this little mistake.

When he got to his 50 the crowd clearly did not cheer him on as much. Not even did Inzi go up to him and shake his hand of give him a hug. If you watch the actual scene when he raises his bat it looks like he is looking for acknowledgement but there is none.

There were more ballastic innings from other people (akmal, afridi, inzi, razzak) but it was Yousuf who had anchored himself at one end of the pitch, giving full support to the other person to fire at will. He could have hogged the crease all by himself too but he deliberate took singles and gave the strike to other guys so they can have a chance to score.

People love the more explosive cricketers such as Afridi and Akhtar. Throughout the grounds you will see people holding up pictures of these two and maybe inzi’s every now and then. For me personally though the best player in the team, after Saeed Anwar, has got to be Yousuf. He was my favourite as Yousuf Youhana and he is my favourite as Mohammad Yousuf.

Sorry needed to get this out somewhere.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: Mohammad Yousuf

I hated him when he got Afridi out but it was only for few mins...or maybe for half an hour but I still love em. You are right about crowd and Inzi not acknowledging his 50. I can understand the crowd but Inzi? He should have huged him atleast a smack on the head (soft one) :)

Re: Mohammad Yousuf

There is no love lost. Such things happen in cricket. They are professionals (in Bob's reign at least) and it would be stupid to assume that they will hold a grudge against him. Of all people, Yousuf will be the first one to acknowledge he needs to work on his running. End of matter, end of episode.

And by the way, other partner does not go and shake hands or hugs in case of a 50, its the case after a century.

Re: Mohammad Yousuf

Yousuf did that to Akmal…and for crowd? Just to say, I am a X Karachite and i hated myself for a moment for no acknowledgement from crowd

Re: Mohammad Yousuf

^ i don;t think karachites were wrong... they just got caught up in that moment..
many of us were ... The way afridi entertained the crowd was precisely what we were hoping for we all truly enjoyed it ... and then the guy gets run out on a bad call (or no call) The crowd couldn't do anything but to downplay the half century ... maybe to express how much they love afridi

I do feel for yousuf and I wish the karachites would have cheered anyway. His inning was very important in setting up the stage for afridi, razzak and inzi. I just hope they congratulated yousuf in the dressing room... and that yousuf works on this part of the game.

Re: Mohammad Yousuf

Most of us, even commentator's have blamed Inzi for getting himself or partner runouts, but I believe it is Yousuf who has done most than any other player (at least in Pakistan's team). But as Saby said, sh!t happens, I don't think they hold grudge against each other.... now if Afridi was close to his century or some other record then there could've been some problem (but still not as big).

Re: Mohammad Yousuf

This sort of stuff happens all the time, part of the game. Yousuf has been around a while, I am sure he is used to it, as are most of the others in the team.

Re: Mohammad Yousuf

It should have been Afridi's call since he was approaching the danger end. Yousuf has no excuse. But it's cricket and we don't know what the two had discussed before the ball. May be the strategy was to take a run if the ball was hit in a certain region. So, can't blame sitting outside the boundary.
