Thanx for sharing this great information. I have posted this masterpiece song from Rafi here before. The greatest male singer of sub-continent Rafi sahib’s amazing ability to combinehis high surs with this classic song is breattaking.. Madhani posted about this in this thread..

Sir Degas, most welcome !

Ignoring the hub dub on the post, I note with great interest that you had pointed out the tarana which follows the song. Its a very interesting piece indeed with the sitar piece in the middle and the tarana at the end, all in the melodius and majestic Hameer.

I also noted your mention of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, although Mohd. Rafi must have benefited from him (not many escaped his influence, as he was truly the amongst greatest of the greats), I believe that Rafi was a student of the great Kirana giant Abdul Karim Khan. Rafi's voice texture and adaigee sometimes shows striking similarity to Abdul Karim Khan's style, who was particularly fond of setting the sharaj (root sur) at a high pitch. Some clips of Karim Khan are available online which may illustrate the point.

Nevertheless, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's informal Hameer clip available on the parrikar pages, is another uncanny piece, which will be intereesting to hear after the rafi piece. Would like to put it up here as well, sometime.

thankx :)

Most Welcome, Good to know that people are into this music .
