LAHORE: Mohammad Hafeez has tendered resignation from the captaincy of Twenty20 accepting the responsibility of team’s failure in 2014 World T20, ARY News reported.
While talking to media in Lahore at National Cricket Academy, Mohammad Hafeez said that the decision is not the result of any pressure and he has decided to quit captaincy at his own will.
When asked about the next captain of Pakistan’s T20 Team, he replied that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is authorized to declare the new captain.
“ I have no objection to play under any one’s captaincy”, he added.
Kudos to him.Atleast he took the responsibility of the defeat and resigned. There are `others' who despite pathetic displays, still cling on to their seats, not even offering a resignation for the sake of words atleast.
Mohammad Hafeez has stepped down as Pakistan’s T20 captain, just days after the team’s exit from the group stage of the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh. Hafeez has also relinquished the vice-captaincy of the ODI side as well. He was given the T20 captaincy in May 2012 after Misbah-ul-Haq decided to step down from the same position. Misbah continues to lead the Test and ODI sides.
Moin Khan has offered to continue with his role as head coach, though his contract was only for the Asia Cup and World T20.
By the way, we shd avoid making too many chnages in the team..i think team is coming out ok but the leadership vaccum is getting deeper and deeper..who will replace hafeez?
and it is not abt skipper only...you always need 3-4 players who form a core thought leadership and rest of the team rallies around them....that is why Misbah alway wanted hafeez in his team so that he can rely on him
moin khan said his contract was only for asia cup and t20 world cup so I think he is also done, chairman sahib said Muhammad akram will be retained, don't know about batting coach. media saying shahid afridi will be new captain so lets see
At least he took responsibility and resigned. Good job.
I think PCB should think out of the box and appoint as captain a young guy, but make sure he is educated.
very phunny! ;)
on a serious notee, i was thinking that we may need a greme smith type initiative but NO..it does not work in pakistani culture easily ..tried many times (javed in 80s, akram in 93 etc) an failed miserably....so it may be out of box but shd not be tried in Pakistan.

Yes - And if he is not educated they should send him back to grade one to learn strategic thinking, psychology, people mangement and other soft skills. We can wait.
