Modi an enemy of Pakistan and Muslims: Musharraf

Re: Modi an enemy of Pakistan and Muslims: Musharraf

I don't want to derail this thread by going into details, This has been discussed zillion times in this forum. Coming back to topic he has no authority to give such irresponsible statement. He should visit his 10 years of rule what he did with Pakistani nation on the issue of war on terror. For him his motto was' sub se pehlay dollar. He should be in jail by now what he did as CAOS and president.

What people forget is that skirmishes on the LoC between the two have been going on between the two for decades since 1990s, probably even before. The people that live along the LoC can attest to that. Also LoC is not an international border (not what India would have you believe). After the border standoff in 2002, a ceasefire was negotiated on LoC between the two countries in 2003 (yes the dictator Musharraf’s times) and it had been in place by and large until 2013(4).

The minor bombing and firing still took place here and there but what we are seeing this time around in 2014 is the biggest bout of fighting in the last 10 years. This is by no means an ordinary skirmish on the LoC. Does it require any statement from the elected gubberment also?, you bet it does. The point being, one should not just shrug it off by saying “oh well it happened when Mushy was a ruler too, why didnt he do anything about it back then”.

Here is an article from 2003.

Re: Modi an enemy of Pakistan and Muslims: Musharraf

He did send Mangoes to Vajpayee, but dunno about saris. Maybe Vajpayee did not like wearing saris? This tradition of sending imagoes to Indian leaders started with Zia ul Haq & since then every leader has been doing this so called “mango diplomacy”.

Pakistan’s Musharraf sends mangoes to Vajpayee

ISLAMABAD, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf, locked in a tense standoff with neighbouring India, has sent several boxes of mangoes to Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee as a goodwill gesture.

The Foreign Office in Islamabad played down the significance of the gift at a time when the two nuclear powers have massed more than a million soldiers on their border, calling it an annual ritual.

“Mangoes are sent to a number of world leaders every year,” a Foreign Office spokesman told Reuters on Thursday. “This has been going on for more than 25 years.”

Pakistani mangoes are some of the best in the world and are exported to several Middle East countries and Europe. India is also a big producer of the fruit.

The official said the mangoes were delivered to the Indian prime minister through the Pakistan embassy in New Delhi.

Pakistan and India have edged to the brink of war after a December raid on India’s parliament which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan-based Islamic militants, but the risk was averted through world diplomatic efforts led by the United States.

The disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, where Islamic militants are fighting Indian rule, is at the heart of the problem.

India accuses Pakistan of arming rebels and sending them into Indian Kashmir. Pakistan says infiltration has stopped.

Re: Modi an enemy of Pakistan and Muslims: Musharraf

Nawaz Sharif’s characteristically cowardly silence over Indian brutality to protect his own business interests has lost him significant public support. Even support those who initially had some sympathy for him when he became the target of widespread public anger. Even his typical die hard ‘too ashamed to admit we support NS’ type fans are struggling to defend him over this issue, considering this incident provided him with a golden opportunity to redeem himself by showing some nerves leadership. He is so exposed and this is all his doing. Even his fans have realised what a disgraced and anti Pakistan figure he has become in public eye due to his crude selfishness and cowardly nature.

And yes, these are periodic temporary clashes between soldiers - people have died and houses have been demolished due to shell fires. It is a thoroughly ridiculous and puny retort that Mushy as an army man would’ve showed the same amount cowardice as this mule Nawaz Sharif. If Pakistan army is currently retaliating Indian aggression, what makes anyone think Mushy would’ve remained all quiet?

Re: Modi an enemy of Pakistan and Muslims: Musharraf

By the why, why isn't there a joint session to discussed Indian aggression? I thought the government was being advised to call one, so what happened? Nawaz family not ready to officially condemn India through a proper platform. That would send such a wrong message to Modi and Jindal family. Poor Hussain Sharif and his potential business deals.

Re: Modi an enemy of Pakistan and Muslims: Musharraf

Dont know about Musharaf, but the way the Indians are slobbering over this Modi character, you'd think he was the reincarnation of Krishna. More of the South Asian penchant for hero worship.

You people need to stop bickering over internal politics and focus on the actual threat.
