We see modernism and modernists driping out of every other muslim family…they try to act like west as if they don’t possess anything original about them selves. They are eating islam from inside…just like termites…unknowgingly to the out side world. Making them selves and islam weaker and weaker…
Modernists way of thinking is the most dangerous thing about them. They influence the thinking of people…and that person spreads their views on unknowingly. They believe falseness blindly and think it is the truth…but they do not know that truth they are following is up-side down!
Their premises and assumptions are wrong…modernists look to the west and try to reinterpret the “old religion” with modern science and modern times. The methodology they use is wrong…the methodology of the modernists is the way they mislead people to the wrong conclusions. They claim to be scientific…but they are usually inconsistent or have no proof or foundation for their beliefs. They fail to notice that not all science is based on facts…sciences in reality is only hypothesis (not a fact)!!! Yet they also fail to realize that every science has its own philosopy, which will lead to its own conclusions!!!
One of the main points of modernism is to change the role of women. They say it is permissible to mix men and women and to not wear hijaab. The modernists are impressed by the West and their conclusions always seem to agree with the views of the West…they feel that making women take their cloths off is fulfilling their rights. Some how this unsound idea have made its way to their minds and they want to do everything possible to fulfill the rights of women that never were…
The modernists movement as a whole (what it is based on) is from bidah(innovation)…they have their own principles and ways, which contradicts that of sunnah!!!Many people do not recognize it as a movement of bidah…and do not research its main cause and purpose…so they try to defend it. Many of their writings are from rationalization (which has no end or conclusion)…and the effects of this are seen in the christian church (that is…they now have no relationship to their religion…and it has no practical value or purpose…)!!!
One can be modern but one should not forget or let go of the real teachings of islam, and sunnah! 1400 years ago they wore arabic suite, today you can wear pants
but don’t forget islam and its true and authentic teachings…following something blindly can be cured, walking on a deviant path blindly is a dangerous thing.

Some would argue that the hijab is 'bidah'. I think there is some room for debate there.
Muslims were at one point leaders in many disciplines. One of the reasons was that we translated and learned from European texts, we enhanced them and critiqued them, and we excelled. Today we reject everything foreign. Muslims who are 'reconstructing Islamic thought' (you call them modernists) are trying to re-Islamize knowledge, to bring us out of this depressing state we are in and back to the years of glory.
As far as women are concerned, they are a symbol of Islamic values or what some interpret to be Islamic values. Everytime the symbol is questioned, religious zealots are up in arms. Contemporary Islamic thinkers are challenging the traditional roles set out for women - many of these roles are defined through cultural innovations (bidah). These thinkers are working to advance women's rights in lieu of true Islamic teachings and in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet. They aren't running contrary to Islamic law, rather they are reconstructing something we've lost. If you disagree with their thinking, at least you can appreciate the debate they are inspiring. Modern Islam is just a word used to discredit Muslms who are reverting back to the true teachings of Islam and working towards advancing the Muslim world, rather than canonizing it into darkness.

Islam gives women EVERY right there is, ONLY if you follow it!!!
I think "someone needs basic kowledge of islam and its values and aspects on how it deals with every issue there are.
No matter what culture you are from, you dont need western views to tell you the rights of the women, its right here in islam(quran an hadith), just because you HEARD them babble about it, just because they have been in the eyes of the media, where you shape your mind. It does NOT mean that islam doesnt have the womens rights thing. Cultural or not cultural. Its there, and its waiting for you to follow it.
The ones living in the west and adapting its ways, will never bring it to the glory, what are you talking about? West is not ISLAM, and following something that is NOT islam, will only bring you down to their feet, not rule them.

Aside from this topic is the question of interest like home mortgages, car financing, credit cards etc. The fact of the matter is that interest is haraam and nowadays people try to legitimize this concept - truly sad. I have talked to Aalims and local imams on this and both sources are saying the same thing that Riba(interest) in any shape or form is Haraam. Would like comments on this topic
The rule of thumb in all the dealings and living needs of life is : Try the best you can to apply Islamic Law within the means available to you. If you could not find the means, try to create them. If you cannot and you are really forced to do something which needs to be done because if you do not do it, harm will be done, then consult your heart and do it. So, regarding RIBA and home financing through banks, look for ways and means to secure an Islamic financing or re-financing of the home you have in mind home; if you cannot try to start an Islamic financial institution, if you cannot, then see if you really need the home or if you can live in a rented place, if you cannot and you personally see it necessary (remember the answer will be yours when we meet Allah on the Day of Judgment, so it is your decision if it is important or not), then buy the home with the lowest possible financing but with the sincere intention of cleaning that RIBA as soon as possible. Try to find an Islamic Financial Institution to finance your home. There are a few. These are: American Finance House LARIBA (www.americanfinance.com) in Pasadena, Calif., MSI in Houston, Texas and United Bank of Kuwait in N.Y., N.Y.

For Islamic banking, I have a couple of suggestions. Go to msn.com and search for the keywords "LaRiba" and/or "almanzil". This will give you a listing of Islamic financial institutions. That'll be a starting point.
