Is there a proper modelling agency in Pakistan or are there only the 10 or 12 models we see everywhere?
If someone wants to model in the Lahore or Islamabad area, who should they contact? Or who can we ask for portfolios of models?

Re: Modelling Agency?
frieha altaf has a modeling agency called catwalk productions but i think she's located in karachi and khawar riaz has a modeling agency called "ocular" and he's located in islamabad.

And they're all biased, and they'll only give you a chance if your mummy daddy have a sugar mill.
Flat out fact is that there is not much opportunity for people who want to model. Either you show up at some rave party or some ball and show off your givenchy dress and catch the eye of a photographer or someone in the industry. Or you can try to get in via the television industry, in which case you'll have to work real hard to get up there.
I think Gia Ali is the only one out of the models who was middle class (that I know of), and she got in because she worked at a beauty parlor and someone spotted here there.
Re: Modelling Agency?
gia ali got into the show business industry because she worked at mussarat misbah salon “deplix” and gia ali was having an affair with mussarat’s husband. supposedly he got her into the business. you are right about it being hard to get into the pakistani modeling business. most of the girls out there are not from good families and they either have affairs with well off men or are willing to do anything to become a model/actress.
Re: Modelling Agency?
well from what i heard was gia ali was a paindoo and came from her village to work as a servant in a film producers house, and he thought she was pretty and casted her is his next film.
Re: Modelling Agency?
no she worked at the salon deplix and was supposedly mopping the floors there.

Well, not true any more, eventhough there are very few modelling agencies, but advertising agencies do welcome new talent, in the past two years there has been a virtual explosion in the advertising scene (specially due to the telecom sector) and new talent is being actively promoted. You can see a number of ads that have totally new yet polished youngsters. As far as modelling agencies in Islamabad are concerned, one of the more successful ones is 'Tarash" which offers grooming and choreography etc with placement opportunities since they are connected with the leading advertising agencies of Islamabad.
Other than that if someone is really interested you can always send your portfolio to one of the prominent advertising agencies operating out of your city.
PS. Gia Ali was the receptionist (not at Depilex but Musarrat Misbah’s earlier venture I forget the name)
Re: Modelling Agency?
Thanks for all the info. I thought I'd give my city of ISB a chance but she's immature in these matters still. Lahore gave me a better invitation for this I guess. Lets see.
Re: Modelling Agency?
U have to be good lookin and rich, if u wanna model now a dayz. Most of these models are connected to a long history of showbiz. Be smart, be attractive, and speak good english. lol
