LAHORE: A sessions court in Lahore on Saturday ordered registration of murder charges against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and 18 others over the violence that took place in Lahore’s Model Town in the month of June, DawnNews reported.
The court directed Station House Officer (SHO) Faisal Town to register cases against the accused persons and ordered that a report should be presented before it after completion of the said.
At least eleven PAT workers were killed and over 100 people were injured in the June 17 clash between police and PAT workers in Lahore’s Model Town.

A report in Dawn also quoted sources as saying that the Punjab government was keeping the report of the judicial commission on the Model Town incident secret, but according to hearsay it pinned the blame solely on police.

Meanwhile, Shahbaz was meeting the premier at his Raiwind residence shortly after the court’s order.
Sources said the two were discussing the overall situation in the country as well as the court’s decision.
No official word has yet been issued from either the prime minister or the Punjab chief minister’s offices regarding the court order.
