AIM:
**MOCHA JAVA CAKE ![]()
Layer 1: chocolate cake (about an inch thick) in a baking tin’s base that has removable sides; soak it with a watery mixture of sweetened cocoa powder( i used drinking chocolate) and water .. about 8-10 tbsp
the tin:
Layer2: Chocolate Mousse
3 tbsp cooking dark chocolate
1 cup hot milk
mixture of 1 1/2 tbsb Gelatin+1 tbsp coffee dissolved in 3-4 tbsp boiling hot water
3/4 cup(150gms)double cream-chilled and then whipped
2 cups icing sugar
-mix the dark chocolate in milk hot enough to melt the chocolate
-add the gelatin/coffee mixture in the milk and stir well
-whip the cream v.v.well with an electric beater at high speed (preferably in a metal bowl placed over a bigger bowl filled with ice-cubes and some water)
-add the icing sugar 2-3 tbsp at a time,whipping the cream simultaneously until all the sugar has been whipped in
-add the milk/choc/gelatin mixture and MIX WITH A SPOON (not with the electric beater to avoid losing air in the cream)
pour over the cake layer in the tin and freeze it for about 40-50 mins until the mousse is almost set
Layer 3: chocolate cake..thinner slice than the one used in the base (depending upon the depth of the tin being used- leave about 2 cms space above for the next layer); soak it with sweetened cocoa+water mixture
Layer 4: Choc. Cream
1 cup double cream-chilled and then whipped
mixture of 1 1/2 tbsb Gelatin+1 tbsp coffee dissolved in 3-4 tbsp boiling hot water
1 1/2 cups icing sugar
-whip the cream and add icing sugar gradually while whipping (as done with the mousse)
-add in the gelatin mixture, mix with a spoon and pou over the choc. cake layer in the tin
-freeze about 40-50 mins until the cream is set
loosen the edges of the cake with a sharp knife(if needed) and remove the sides of the baking tin. Pour chocolate Sauce over the cake, top with grated white chocolate or whipped cream and serve.
Chocolate Sauce: mix equal quantities ( i used 1/4 cup each) of double cream and melted milk chocolate, heat to make it of a thin consistency, pour over the cake and refrigerate **:halo:
