Mobile phones - cool or not?

Do you feel under pressure to have one of the latest and coolest looking mobile phones?

I mean, I’ve seen people around me, including myself, feeling pressurised to have a cool phone with all the latest tech such as cams, video messaging, bluetooth etc. Even though people don’t neccesarily say things to your face would you look ‘down’ or think someone is not cool and with the times if they don’t have one of the latest phones?

Opinions please

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

as long as i can make a call.. send messages..and make some pics..:) i dont care abt the high tech stuff..

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

i can see the pressures but i don't feel subject to them... when i first got a phone i was really part of it but now people know thath there's so much out there plus people my age don't really have that much cash to spare (girls espec) so we're just like whatever... i agree strongly with LDH on this... btw... my phone got disconnected :( my contract expired :(

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

its just how the cell phone companies make the youth think that they need the latest tech. for cell phones or otherwise if you don't have that bling bling you will be ostracized and ashamed of yourself. and the idiotic youth lap it up.

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

not all of us :snooty:

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

Yes. I feel under pressured. Then I come home and tell my mommy that I want a new cell phone. She gets mad and all the pressure releases :bummer:

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

I get influenced bigtime. I mean the only reason I got my samsung E800 is because it looks good :halo:

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

naa I dont care much ...

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

Generally speaking, I like new gadgets and gizmos, so I have some reason to like the ones that are new and improved.

However, I feel cell phones have become a necessity. It's not about coolness or uncoolness, but it's more about safety and the need to be having one.

ps. it may not be a necessity for others, but it certainly has become one for many others

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

i've had an upgrade every year - i've always had nokia's, had the 6600 last year, got the samsung d500 this year - yes they're great gadgets, BUT only if you're likely to use the functionality ... from all the fones i've ever had, I can quite honestly say that the best has been the Nokia 6310i .. i've still got it,,,- Its still probably rated as one of Nokia's best fones - easy to use,, quick,,,very quick in fact, and not a single software problem.... It can be easily used to make a call, store numbers and send text messages -

Re: Mobile phones - cool or not?

There are quite a few people I know, who are "Mujhai latest mobile chahiye" kind of people. But I don't count myself in that group.

The mobiles I had so far were:

  • Ericsson GA628 (bought it myself in 1997)
  • Nokia 6150 (company mobile, which I got in 1999)
  • Nokia 3310 (bought it myself in 2001 - left it in Pakistan after using it there for 6 months)
  • Nokia 6210 (company mobile, which I got in 2002)
  • Nokia 6820 (company mobile, which I got in 2004)

So you can see: Mai mobile khuddi nahi laita. Mujhai mill jaata hai. :D
