Mobile Phone: Unlikely Rivals

The two new rivals in the mobile phone market are not the well known names but Apple and Google.

Apple is about to launch its mobile phone this week while the rival Google is also about to make its move into the mobile market. Will it upstage Apple?

-more room for creativity google is also offering

allowing independent software developers to customise applications and build new features.

otherwise "Applegoo" is always gonna be there as backup strategy
(for either of the corporations)

“There’s a lot of relationships,” Schmidt told the audience. “If we merge we can call it Applegoo.”

Re: Mobile Phone: Unlikely Rivals

This idea of ad based free service has been tried before and has failed. There is no reason why it will succeeded this time around.

Mobile market too complicated and cramped at this time. Apple has a lot buz but very low market share. Google is all PR and nothing to show yet. Microsoft, RIM and Nokia are players to watch out for.

Re: Mobile Phone: Unlikely Rivals

i stick to nokia

Re: Mobile Phone: Unlikely Rivals

Maybe the platforms can combined to form an IGoogle communications device? Not likely. but the google device is software only so the IPhone could incorporate it somehow.

apple was up over 10% today while google was up over 5% in the Dows second strongest performance of the year.

Re: Mobile Phone: Unlikely Rivals
