hello,
since ive been away from pak for soo long now i hardly can imagine 10% of the population carring mobile phones!! i never saw one 4 yrs ago when i was there!!
so whats it like? are pple buying the state of the art handsets or just doing “guzara” with 2nd hand stuff from abroad?
is nokia the market leader as in every othe country?
and are there other service provider than Paktel(was a monoply when i was there)??

The mobile market has exploded in Pakistan, just like elsewhere in the world. Now there are 6 service providers, and rates are quite competitive.
Nokia is the market leader in phonesets, and people mostly go for new sets, since they usually come with warrantys. Besides, sets are so cheap now that it doesnt make sense to go for a second hand.
A few wireless phone services have also been expanding quietly, and they are somewhat of a threat to both mobile phones and landline, though the government has put limitations in place in order to avoid this threat.
