I remember reading an article a few years ago on Britain’s first mixed gender prison in Peterborough. According to the prison director, the female inmates would do all the cooking and catering since it was feared that male inmates would adulterate the food if they were let loose into the kitchen. That just sounded funny and that is why I still remember reading it.
So anyway… the question is do you support the idea of mixed gender prisons or should prisons be segregated only? Give reasons.

It is assumed that the introduction of women prisoners into the usually all-male world helps heterosexual prisoners to retain their sexual orientation. The benefits of mixed gender prisons do not depend upon sexual contact between the prisoners (which is usually outlawed) but on the development of social relationships and the reinforcement of gender identity.”
well…serously… i don’t think so… and the premise about male prisoner’s keeping their orientation straight…doesn’t that go against wester society’s homophilia nowadays??
why would they prefer them to stay straight??
and what would prevent the male crinimals from going all nuts on the womenz??
they could like…introduce inter prison dating service…and like…get them married off and put in a third prison for married criminals
I think that it would be very difficult to make a mixed-gender prison work, particularly as most countries have had gender-seperated ones for years and this is the system they are used to.
While I understand it could maybe help stuff like 'sexual orientation', it'd also open up a whole other can of worms.
I agree. I would vote against it. If sexual assaults are so common in the all-male prisons, God only knows how they would keep the female inmates protected.

For a start call me evil but some prisoners dont deserve prison at all... public exectuion ought to be brought back me thinks... even if just as a pilot scheme... I want to see how many more wannabee gangsters we have when most of the "Icons" are skinned alive and staked outside the victims home.
The justice system is not fair by any stretch. Too many prisoners get thrown into prison because they dont have adequate representation. Draconian laws such as 3 strikes you areout dont help matter either. Lock them up and throw away the keys dont work. Maybe this is not a bad idea - most appear to have missed the most important part

I interpret this to mean being aroud the opposite gender can make both genders behave in a more civilized manner.
