***Has anyone tried Mixbook for making wedding photo books to be shared with friends and family? I think it is much better than uploading pics on FB. ******You can share your albums for free on the web or print them out as high-quality printed products.
I haven’t tried this service but I used Adorama (http://www.adoramapix.com/app/home) to make a photobook for my parents wedding anniversary.
Our photographer gave us digital copies of all the photos he took & then my Mom picked her favorite photos & I designed the layout & colors of the book. We had a copy printed so they could take it to show elder relatives who don’t use the computer, & also sent the book link on the website to relatives who couldn’t come to the celebration. Everyone said they liked being able to turn the “pages” on their computer
Very easy. Once you create your account, you can upload your pictures into a gallery where Adorama stores them for you (which is a good place to back up any valuable pictures & its free to do so) & then you select a book “template”. There are lots of them based on style & size & so on, but if you don’t like any of them you can also design a book from scratch according to your own specifications. You then just drag the pictures from your gallery to where you want them in the book. It didn’t take very long to learn how to use it by myself, but they have tutorials on their site if you need help.
The “books” can be archived on their site for free for as long as you want, you don’t even have to order the actual book if you don’t want to, or if you need an extra copy in the future you can go back & order one. They have lots of examples on their website. My mom wouldn’t let me post the book I made so you can see how it turned out, but this is the template I used
I](http://www.adoramapix.com/app/products/books#/inspired/Wedding/Wedding-Classic)f you don’t like pink, you can change it to any color you like & if you don’t like the white flower background you can make it all sorts of other colors & designs, they have a library of different backgrounds - you just click on the one you like & the book changes to that one.
If you have iPhoto you can also make photo books using that. You just drag and drop them into layouts (doesn’t get any easier than that!), buy the book when you’re done, and hey presto! Apple prints it and sends it to you within the week. I did our wedding albums this way and its a gorgeous, high-quality, hardcover book and it only cost me $120 for a 103 page album! Yay for Apple! http://www.apple.com/ilife/print-products.html

Everything is private unless you chose to make it public. Even then you can control who sees it, so only people you give the book link to, people can’t find your book by searching your name on google or something.
There are lots of services like this, we liked Adorama because they have the flat books where a picture can be printed across two pages & the quality of paper is the highest, but its a bit more expensive that some other services.
There’s a great review of most of the services - its useful because some services only ship the printed books in the US, but others will ship to Canada, UK etc. plus it tells you who has the best paper, printing & so on.
Re: Mixbook... Create your own wedding photo books
These are so great! The ones our photographers gave us are really crappy - sorry couldnt think of a better word! Im really not happy with the photographer we went with, but its over and done with, and now I have to make the best of the pictures I have. I am going to definitely make some photobooks on one of these sites!
