Re: Missionary Work
Anyone who leaves Islam is a murtad so these 'missionaries' are actually trying to get muslims killed.

Re: Missionary Work
It’s all about context. Given that the Quran and Authentic Hadith do not contradict each other, and given that the Hadith about the punishment for apostacy are almost universally accepted as being genuine (find me a well known scholar who rejects them), it’s clear that the verse refers to no compulsion in being forced to start believing in Islam.
In fact, the translation of the full verse is:
2:256
YUSUFALI: **Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. **
You can see that the verse is about not being compelled to begin believing in Allah. It makes no reference to being free rejecting Allah and believing in evil.
Between this verse and the Hadiths about apostates, it’s clear that cannot be forced to become a Muslim. However, you are not permitted, once Muslim, to convert out of it.
Re: Missionary Work
I thought everyone was born a Muslim?
Re: Missionary Work
I don't see where in that verse it says that if you are a muslim and you stop believing, then you are to be punished. As for hadith, then its up to the person to believe whether the hadith are always in concurrance with the Quran.
Secondly, I think most people who convert OUT of Islam were people who never really believed it in the first place. And even if they did things that were "Islamic", it doesn't mean they believed in it. At least, that's the usual case I've seen.
Re: Missionary Work
I don't think I agree with you on this bro, Because if this is the case then there is no free choice of choosing the religion. Which to me is not justice, and Islam is claimed to be religion of justice.

Islam is not claimed to be a religion of justice, it is a religion of justice. Actually I should not use the word is as that indicates a metaphor while islam should be synonymous with justice, perfection.
Re: Missionary Work
Such work should not be allowed. I suggest GoP arrest and torture all such people.
Re: Missionary Work
Thanks for elaborating, and the punishment for desertion at the time of War is death in almost all societie's Military Code. it is Universal.
Re: Missionary Work
Then tell me why are you saying that a person should die if he chooses another religion or no religion.
A person entering Islam is all fine but leaving is not allowed. Sounds like gangster thing, this is not Islam at all. Aperson in Islam is allowed to leave Islam anytime he chooses so, go check it out.
Re: Missionary Work
Is that where the missionary position comes from?
Re: Missionary Work
While I am fairly liberal in terms of religions what I find particularly insidious about Christian Missionaries is their pretense of helping humanity in crisis while doing their missionary...well.. missions?
I am talking about the likes of Christian Childrens Fund and OXFAM etc using hunger, poverty and tragedies like war and natural disasters to set bases for missionary work and then making and turning profit with onslaught of sponsor a child campaigns in the western world.
Re: Missionary Work
Then why dont the Muslims help out in crisis and set up posts to later influence non belivers? After all proselytation is allowed .. encouraged and will get you to heaven for showing someone the light?
Perhaps because the inherent spirit of help does not exist? Cause you gotta do the work before someone will believe you. Perhaps if Muslims were not so intent on navel gazing and commiserating on thier own misery and condemning those who do not belive, they could see the world in a different light and all opportunities to help in front of thier faces.
Condemning is easy, but actually helping is difficult.. isnt it?
Re: Missionary Work
May be people opposing Christians preaching is in some areas, but when I lived in Pakistan many times Christian missionary people came to our neighborhood distributing booklets about Jesus and Christianity and I didn't see them being harassed by anyone.
