2 TB external hard disk showing 1.8TB available space (200GB short). Apparently it's common in Hitachi & Western Digital 2TB drives.

its common in all kinda storages .. its even written on package .. actual formatted space may vary

I have 2T seagate and it also shows 1.81 T :(

wow is that so ...

so why does my laptop say 320GB but when i check harddrive properties it only shows 286Gb ..?? Is this a similar thing to what you guys are on about???

according to me reason is .. when you format the Hard disk it setup a tables to store data ..

Suppose you have a blank drawing paper ... you have alot of space to write 0110101010 .. but it isn't organize

if you take same paper and divid into rows & columns you will loose some space .. but it will be organized

this is my assumption .. may be wrong

same thing with me
my 16 gb mem card only gives 15 gb in psp :frowning:
i hate it when they do that, took a whole gb off :bummer:
