Had an unpleasant morning. All my emails are gone from hotmail. What can cause this to happen? Is it too late or still room for remedy to retreive lost emails?

→ Check if these problems happen when accessing your account through web format or when using an e-mail client.
Also, is there any error message you are getting?

No, no error messages. All is fine. Just all the emails gone missing. This had happened to me once before too.
I log in one day, and all my emails are gone. Other than trying to get a hold of Microsoft Tech Support (which from what i hear won’t be very helpful either…) i wonder if there’s any other way to retrieve them, or atleast get to the bottom of the cause for this to happen?
PS: I haven’t tried using a different PC to access it yet. Will try…

Have you been checking your e-mails regularly? Because if you don't log-on for a month or so they can delete your contacts and emails.

It could be that there is an issue with the server your account is hosted on... IMHO move to GMX or GMail... even if your issue does eventually get resolved ;)

Is this problem going to persist even if i go Hotmail Plus? Which i think is paid service...

Also check to see if someone else has your password.

Teggy, i just did a quick search on the net, and found that many Hotmail Plus members are experiencing the same issues as you and they’re complaining about the lack of customer support from hotmail…customer retention doesn’t seem to be on the top of their list
So Gmail eh… i’ll send you an invite

Teggy bhai, another suggestion as to what might have happened: hotmail may have blacklisted your ip, domain, or email… not been doing any funny business have you??

If that was the case, wouldn’t my email account disappear altogether or become unable to receive emails? 
I got a few emails from today that are still sitting there (unread), but all the old ones read and unread are gone.

use outlook/outlook express and download email using that on your harddrive (well if you have it anymore). Then abandon hotmail, and start using GMail. :P

I was able to get them restored through customer support.
Thanks for the advice though everyone, i’ll back 'em up and move to a more secure service.

Woah… you must have some sort of power in the industry for them to respond to you that quickly… and you’re not even a Hotmail Plus customer…interesting
