How can one make up for years and years of missed prayers?
Re: Missed Prayers
Try to roughly estimate since when did praying become obligatory for you and till which year/month you didn't offer salah/namaz. Suppose time is 5 years (Allah forbid) then multiply those years by the number of days (in a year). In this case it becomes 365 X 5 = 1825 days.
Now if you offer only one Qaza prayer with each prayer that you offer daily, inshaAllah you would complete the missing prayers in 5 years. Remember that if you start doing it today (with an intention of finishing it in 5 years) and you (Allah forbid) die just after making up for only few days of Qaza prayers, inshaAllah Allah (swt) would forgive all the rest of the prayers, because you intended to complete them but your time in this world ran out.
p.s. Consistency is the key. Even if you couldn't carry on the practice due to some gaps (illness, tiredness, tensions, work load other problems...etc) but kept coming back to track the moment you became health/stable..etc. again. InshaAllah Allah (swt) would forgive you based on your intentions, sincerity and struggle that you put in.

Re: Missed Prayers
For me the easier method was
Once i establsihed qaza namaz , i started completing one namaz at a time, so for example i used to complete maghrib qaza by offering one qaza befor efajar, after zuhr muakkida, before asr fardh, after maghrib sunnat(this also amounts to awabeen) and after isha.
No nafl rather offer qaza in lieu of nafl.
Plus, for every salat istikhara,Qaza hajaat and other offer qaza.
How mean :)

Re: Missed Prayers
it does seem easier to keep account by saying qazas of all fajr's first , then begin on zuhr's and so on.
Re: Missed Prayers
^ and you always have the option to keep on offering fajar as fillups :) when you dont have time say during your zuhr qaza period go for fajar qaza.
I started zuhr qaza after i had completed 80% of fajar qaza , and completed fajar as fill ups.
Please remember me in your prayers
Re: Missed Prayers
I offer one qaza with every namaz...fajr qaza with fajr(before farz) zuher qaza with zuher(before farz) asr qaza with asr(before farz) maghrib qaza with maghrib(after farz) isha qaza with isha(before/after isha)
As bao bihari said....rem us in ur duas
Re: Missed Prayers
Another method would be to utilise holidays in marathon qaza sessions, minus the foribidden times ... doing it this way will also make you turn prayer into a habit ... but it is better to do little and less consistently than lots a few times ... it can be encouraging to do it this way too because you see the numbers drop off quickly.
Re: Missed Prayers
Whts marathon qaza sessions ?
Re: Missed Prayers
^ Like on sundays one day qaza in one session , say between 09-10 in morning plus regular qaza with every namaz, that makes 2 qaza in one day
Re: Missed Prayers
Yes or like take holidays or go on tableeq or during Ramadan in itteqaaf ... or during tahjjud time ...

Qaza-e-Umari of Farz Salat can be offered even during forbidden times.
Re: Missed Prayers
Here are my suggestions
- Easiest way is to do one Qaza with every salat. Fajr Qaza with fajr, Duhr with Duhr.
- First offer the original Salat, then pray Qaza (not before that)
- Do niyat of "I am doing niyat of the last Farj/Duhr/...etc that is due on me". That way you count backwards. So if you missed a prayer last week then you will take care of it first, and paryer that was missed last year will come later.
- Qaza is only for Farz and Witr.

According to my understanding that no prayer can be made during forbidden times ... But I'm all ears ...
Re: Missed Prayers
I shared in details, my understanding of forbidden times in this thread.

Re: Missed Prayers
I ask you one simple question brother Psyah.
If I have just one farz paryers due on me and I am suppose to offer Qaza of that, and these are my last 5 minutes on earth (somehow I know that I am dead within 5 minutes) and I am physically all able to offer that Qaza, but its one of the forbidden times, should i offer or should I not offer?
Re: Missed Prayers
Peace TLK
Luckily I have my fiqh hanafi book, Al-fiqh al-Islam, vol 1 , shaykh Mohammad, Akram Nadwi …
There are prohibited times for all prayers and then times which are makruh only. According to this book qaza can be read in the makruh times but not in the forbidden times.
This also includes janazah …
Forbidden: During Sunrise, during Sunset at High Noon
Makruh times: After fajr before sunrise, after asr has been prayed, to pray when the sun is reddening towards sunset.
The two rakahs for tawaf and all mandatory prayers are not to be prayed even in the makruh times.
