Re: Missed a flight?
we went to toronto a few weeks ago and were supposed to return on Sunday (july 5). Our flight was at 4 and we checked in at 3 PM. After going through security, we were made to go into secondary inspection. They kept us waiting for over an hour before they called our name...and they took us to a 3rd office, where they interrogated my husband for another hour.
Three different officers said that if we missed our flight, they would make arrangements for us. The last one, who was interviewing my husband, told us to go back to the check-in counter and get hte next flight home. When we checked in, they told us we'd have to pay for the difference (which amounted to $300) and that we were responsible for it...since they dont care what US customs says/does.
You can say part of it was our fault for checking in so late, but at the same time, the officers were of course rude....having to pay hundreds of dollars for their arrogance and incompetency was a sore point.
That day, our flight was at 1 PM...we left at 7 AM, and from check-in through scanning we were done by 7:45. so we chilled out at the airport til it was time to board.
Sara, atleast you checked-in an hour before...we checked in a DAY later..lolzz well not actually..Both me and hubby completely mistook the time ..the flight was at 03.15 Sep 10 and we had our minds set for 15.15 Sep 10 (03.15pm in our minds) ..and no this wasn't our first time..=D
The morning we thought we were supposed to leave I saw the ticket again and immediately realized our blunder....called hubby at work and told him too...It was our Eid trip and we had bought the tickets months back..ppl were having difficulty getting tickets at that peak time and we were quite glad we'd been so akalmand lolzz..
Kher it was 2-3 days before eid.. no tickets in picture..quite devastating in the beginning but got funnier..we'd sit and look at our packed bags cursing each other for not noticing..Anyway finally got to fly on the morning of Eid day..and reached Pak at brunch time..our eid partially saved..:D
Re: Missed a flight?
lol... i think it will take us a lifetime before we casn "laugh" abt it. Tho i did try to crack a joke...that cz we had wasted a half hour in the parking lot and got a few carts, we saved the $4 that we wud need had we gotten them in front of the terminal.
noone laughed :D

Re: Missed a flight?
I missed my flight twice, once from San Jose airport to back HK, i was with my younger brother, we were not actually late but what happened was, there was a long line of passengers at the counter, we asked a lady (airport staff) that if we are suppose to line here for this flight, we told her the flight number and she said yes, we lined for almost an hour and were told at the counter that the flight just took off and was half hour earlier than the scheduled time, they tried to make us pay, but we started argue and since it was thier fault, (the lady was suppose to let us know, she was there the entire time) they gave us another flight immediatly via Taiwan to HK.
Another time was when i was going to Las Vegas from San Francisco airport, i got there one and half hour earlier and thought to have a drink with my sister since we both were sad (i was going back to HK after Vegas trip). I went to the immigration point and was told by the lady that i'm suppose to board from terminal 3, when i reached terminal 3 which took me fair amount of time, i was told that my flight is actaully boarding from terminal 1 and the same gate i was told it's boarding from terminal 3, i had to go back to terminal 3 and told the same lady her mistake, she didn't even say sorry and let me pass, but by then my flight was already gone, i had to stay there for another 5 hours for next available flight.
At the end i will say, not generally Americans but the once in service industry are very rude and unhelpful. I've been to a lot of countries, nothing like this ever happened to me anywhere else.
P.S, I'm not agains Americans, i have many American friends and they are nice and lovely.
Re: Missed a flight?
Shona..we didn’t tell them , just made an excuse that our seats were on chance and we didn’t get 'em..it was a ‘bissti ka mamla’ at that moment, we were afraid we’ll get bisstified by both sides of our parents..lolzz but later when we got there we told them..
Holy.moly…I have had my name announced a few times(i guess 2) at the terminalsblush…This is the last call for passenger Me me me… but both times it wasn’t my fault..and I ran to my full capacity..I bet I could’ve beaten a horse ![]()
Re: Missed a flight?
They didn't announce my name both times, it's strange though, they should have.
