AP) Organizers disqualified a woman from a beauty pageant in Tokyo after Pakistani officials objected to her representing the country, saying participation in the contest denigrated Islam and brought shame to Pakistan, officials said Sunday.
Pakistani authorities told contest officials to prohibit Neelum Noorani from participating in the Miss International competition scheduled to start Monday, Pakistan’s Culture Secretary Tariq Janjua told The Associated Press. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/09/30/world/main523725.shtml
anyways..I dont care if someone wants to strut the stage as Miss Pakistan. There are enough things that we do which are not in keeping with religion to begin with.
What I do care about is someone just showing up as Miss Pakistan. Where did she win, who sanctioned the event..so on and so forth.
If ppl who want a miss pakistan contestant can start a movement to have a real competition and have a real contestant, more power to them. I probably wont help them cuz there are bigger issues that I can spend my energies on. so then if there is some competition..a real competition..where someone wins, then by all means go and take part in it.
I will keep staking my claim on sports titles in pakistans for sports that there is no official tournament or recognition. I hope that if I am stripped of that title you guys will start just as many posts.
